Hi

I require a logo for a friends eBay antique & collectables store.

His company name is 'Curious Pie Antiques & Collectables'

The logo should be fun, but clean and sharp overall. It should be vector.

Type of Contest: LOGO Design

Prize: $25, PayPal

Contest End Date & Time: 7th December 9PM GMT

Color Requirements: Please see the current logo, linked below.

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/5/8/9/7/3/6/webimg/495704457_o.jpg

Size Requirements:
Please see the current logo for size guidlines. However you can go outside of this if required. Please feel free to play with different sizes as long as they are rectagular and will fit in a normal sized header.

General Requirements: The logo should be fun, but clean and sharp overall. It should be vector.

He is listing classy antique items, mainly ceramics and glassware. So the logo should be stylish. The fun should be there, but it needs an overall clean and professional feel.

I made his current logo (badly!), please us the colours and sizing as a guideline. Keeping something along the lines the circle 'PIE' central feature as he uses this as an emblem for twitter, facebook ect. Feel free to play with colours though, and the emblem does not need to be a copy of this, but the idea should be there. I would avoid using antique style fonts etc. He is looking for more of modern look. The kind of thing that might be used at a stylish art gallery.

I am also looking for someone to do some basic design & html for his eBay auction template. Please PM me if interested.

I have given bonuses to the winner in previous competitions when things were extra special. This competition is no exception.

Any questions, just ask :)

David

ADDED: As things seem to be moving a bit slowly I have extended end date by 48hrs.

The design contest area seems pretty quiet right now. I haven't started this comp too close to xmas have I?

Weird. The 1st reply (from atmar) only just appeared for me at 2pm today, even though it was posted yesterday evening. Is something wrong with the forum?

Thanks for your entry, it's not really standing out to me at the moment, in particular I think the lettering is a little too commonplace.

I would not focus too much on the 'pie' part, it's not a food company after all. The name was chosen to stand out more than anything.

Quick note. I was thinking the logo should say 'Curious Pie' large, with 'Antiques & Collectables' smaller below. However it can just say 'Curious Pie' also. Lets see those entries :)

Is there no interest in this one? I've never had a comp which has gone so slowly. What can I do to help move things along?

Still 5 more days, I'm sure there will be a few more entries for you by then. Gets a little slow this time of year. I'll try to put in at least one entry to help out within the next few days. Also, Keep in mind that the higher the prize, the more designers that will normally enter.

Yeah, I guessed it might be slow, just not this slow.

As far as money goes, I am getting it as an xmas pressie for a friend, I obviously didn't want to spend too much (money is a bit tight all around right now), but i've ran a few comps at $25 and seen plenty of others at the same price. This one seems totally dead in relation to those.

I did consider putting the price up, but haven't done because with so little interest it sort of feels I might be wasting money. Every comp I have ran has ended with a bonus when the logo has been extra special, so $25 in minimum. But without more interest in general I obviously can't consider actually guaranteeing more.

Thanks for the entries :) To be honest I think I am looking for something more modern and sharp. I know this is for antiques sales, but he is trying to build a modern image. More in keeping with modern galleries and interior design stores than the stuffy old world antiques look.

If you could play around with what you have done, or something new, to try and make something slick, simple, and stylish that would be excellent.

He mainly deals in 1930s Art Deco ceramics, rather than older boring furniture. His sales seem mainly focused towards people with style in mind.

For reference, below are a selection of simple logos, which I think would be good examples within the limits of this competition. Something along the lines of the styles shown here, with an emblem of some sort would be perfect.

Thanks again for your entries. The emblems are not really working for me, they are not saying anything really. The lettering is coming on though. I would like ot try some type of combination of 4 & 6 if that is ok? 6 is definatly the best so far, the font especially.

Thanks to you also. The shading is a bit dated, i'd prefer simple solid colouring to the lettering. I like the way you are going though, and i'd really like to see more entries from you :)

Thanks :) I think i've pretty much decided that the 'Antiques & Collectables' part should be smaller than the 'Curious Pie' part, which should form the bulk of the logo. I'd really like to see something with that in mind. What you have posted is very similar to the one I did for him, and obviously i'm looking for something different. That said, I would definatly like to see you try a few different ideas based on what you have already done.

blairwitchii

I like the proportions of the bottom two entries. The main lettering is probably too fussy, and perhaps there could be more done in terms of adding some depth to the overall logo. Maybe having the 'curious' & 'pie' parts in different colours or distinct lettering such as the below two examples:

http://www.pageblank.com/templateImages/Florist-Creative-LG.jpg

http://www.adgective.co.uk/images/portfolio/plymouthimagegallery/plymouthimagegallery-2.jpg

A few people have posted little icons and emblems that don't seem to have much meaning. Those are not really working for me. I think an emblem, if any, should use the CP of the name, or incorperate the 'Pie' part of the name in some way.

I've been playing around a bit myself. Hopefully these ideas will provide some extra inspiration.

Please feel free to copy and refine!

Sheryonline:

Nice ideas, there isn't much time for edits now, but could you try taking your design and making it a little more modern.

Virginart: This is a good departure from the older style designs offered here, and the closest to the brief. If you have time before the end of the comp could you try a few more versions of this? I don't really care for the 'face' icon part, but the main lettering is very interesting.

Not much time to go, and I think that a winner at this point will have to be willing to work a little more on the design, I hope that is ok! Still a chance to get get last minute entries in though :)
