I noticed a pair of discussion threads (one of which I am now following) that were blatantly and obviously in the incorrect sections - i.e they were in the Domain Lists area, and I quote, where:

Lists of domains that are available to register at any domain registrar for the registration cost: GoDaddy, Namecheap, Dynadot, etc.

But I got replies back for both stating:

Unfortunately, your recent report has been rejected: Post in thread 'XYZ' - At this time the thread appears to be in the correct forum. No need to move. Thank you for understanding.

Now obviously these discussion topics don't belong there, and would do much better in the proper area, but I am a little confused as to what the procedure is, as reporting them does no good.

Thanks.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Reporting is the correct procedure.

However, if you believe your report was handled incorrectly (sometimes we make mistakes), you may create a thread in our feedback section like you did (thanks!) or Contact NamePros Management.

Hello,

I just reviewed the two reported posts. I'm not going to link them here because this is a public thread and I'm not sure if you wanted the members you reported to know you did.

This thread may have been better in Namepros support, however, since you created here, I'll try to address it with my findings without revealing too much publicly.

You have two reports that appear to be resolved regarding the thread(s) you mentioned accompanied by the rejection resolution.

Report 1:
Forum: Available Domain Names
Post content overview: List of available crypto domains along with automated appraisals. The OP did state that the appraisals are the reason why people think the available domains listed are worth something. While the member did express their opinion, they also provided a list of available domain names, in the available domain names forum.
Domain Lists > Available Domain Names rules:
8.0.2. Include at least one domain name (from the domain list) in the title of the thread.
8.0.3. All domains must be listed in the thread and not require any action (e.g., visiting a link) to view them.
8.1.2. All domains initially posted must be available to register at any registrar for at-cost pricing.
Please keep in mind that this forum does not fall under marketplace or discussion. The rules above are the only official rules for those specific forums at this time. However, our Terms of Service and all other rules do still apply when applicable.
Resolution: As seen above, there does not appear to be rule violation, which is why the moderator that handled the report chose the resolution they did.

Report 2:
Forum: Available Domain Names
Post content overview: Voicing an opinion about a specific available domain name that turned out was not available in the first place. The discussion became educational and was moved to the general domain discussion forum.
Resolution:
The moderator handling the thread may have gone by the first post, regarding the specific available domain name and did not realize the domain name was not actually available. The report simply stated the thread needed to be moved and did not give a reason as to why.

I the future, when reporting a thread, please provide a brief description of why you reported it or quote the rule it violated.

In a perfect world all moderators will be able to detect everything, unfortunately, with so many reports and being subject to the human condition, we can't be 100% all the time.

I apologize for the inconvenience and hope that the clarification I provided helps.

Thanks for understanding,

Thanks and I'm not trying to cause problems or roust anyone out of a forum, but I was reading both threads and just thought "What the heck are they doing here?" simply because they have a lot of interesting commentary and might really take off in a more appropriate discussion group.

It's like watching a new "drama" on Netflix or Prime, 5 minutes in you realize its actually soft-core porn. (n)

I think the first one just got moved, but here is the other one:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/is...domain-thing-just-getting-ridiculous.1100451/

Good threads, but they deserve to be in the discussion groups, not the Domain Lists area.
You were right to start this thread for another look; we made a mistake.

That particular thread was not created for (and its purpose is not for) people to acquire these domains. The list is provided solely for discussion purposes.

The thread has been moved to where it belongs: Niche Domain Discussion.

For future reference:
  • Domain Lists are meant to be used to acquire domains. Everything else, even if there is a list of domains in the thread, does not belong in the Domain List section. Discussion is allowed in domain lists as long as the purpose of the thread is for the list of domains to be acquired by anyone interested in them.

Thanks.
