Remember when Dan.com was the cool new domain marketplace that cared about domainers, and was constantly improving and making it better and adding cool new features and then Godaddy bought it and killed it.

I need to say that spaceship it's getting pretty close until now. Fast payments (I've had transactions done in 4-5 hours, fron the buy now to payout, payouts saturday). good customer service, dan was replying in 15 minutes or so, spaceship is doing it sometomes in 15 minutes, sometimes in a few hours, but they are lighting speed compared to sedo and afternic. They add new features, but they have space to improve. Dan was having instant views count and they did instant ownership check when asked, so that would be great to add to spaceship. Dan felt somehow more personal, spaceship feels bigger and impersonal, but they do try to adapt. Ler's see how they evolve.

Will NamePros set up holding accounts at the major registrars, so domains can be pushed quickly to the NamePros account and then on to the buyer? DAN.com had this, and transactions were superfast. It took a lot of the burden off the seller.

Spaceship now have the dashboard in a similar layout to Dan.

Now if they change their colours from Black to white and green, you get a Dan clone risen from the ashes...(maybe @Eric Lyon can do a mockup of that hehe)

I wouldn't be so sad about dan closing.

In life, things that people want will always find a way to exist, so it's quite likely that someone else will emerge that incorporates the "dan things" and perhaps some other things that people want.

Ideas are bullet proof, as V said in V for Vendetta, and so dan can't really be killed.
