Well, I went to shout at the company that hosted one of my domains today but it turned out that the domain was suddenly transferred to the "REGISTRY-HOLD" status as of a few days ago.

I've since sent them a question and I'm waiting for a reply but do you guys happen to know what would cause this to happen out of nowhere like this?

I'm afraid I'm a little unfamiliar with this situation.

Thanks.

I was browsing around the site through the IP address and noticed that the script is showing an invalid license # warning. I had already checked logs and it appears no Spam was sent out either.

Interesting, tech, give us the domain name and we will all have a look at this for you.

Will provide assistance

Hello,

I am with Namecheap.com and CSR Manager. I find it odd that you have not received a reply from our support and would like to investigate further as to why you have not. Please send me a PM with your information and I will personally investigate this issue for you and asure that you are assisted correctly. When a domain is placed on "Registrar-Hold" we provide you with contact info. for ENom, we are their reseller and need to refer to you them as they have the information regarding why they took this action (could be anything from incorrect contact info to spamming) and "is" the only situation in which we refer a customer to contact ENom, all other issue are handled by our CS. They do not provide this information to us and we are not advised of such action until the customer contacts us directly. If a domain is placed on "Registry Hold" then this is a direct issue with the registry itself and needs to be contacted directly. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have received and will be waiting for your information. (Please send me your info. even if you have resolved so I may investigate further and improve our service to our customers).

Best Regards,
Michael Kirkendall

Well, an update on the situation:

Enom finally got back to me - it took them 3 days to do so. Apparently a member uploaded a spoofed Paypal login script on some page so they locked my domain. It's funny that in all my experiences I've always been warned first before something like this was shut down. I sent them a reply back but once again it has already been a day.

Namecheap cleared up the situation and my faith is restored with them but now I'm very dissappointed with Enom. I understand they are busy but the lack of communication is nothing short of pitiful.

I agree with you on this one Denver.
Even though they are resellers for Enom Namecheap has always been more helpful and courteous to me than Enom would be.
Glad to hear things are back to normal.

Oh, they are far from normal, I'm still waiting on a reply and getting more annoyed by the moment.

Well, it definitely shouldn't take this long to hear back from them for such an issue. I'm very dissappointed with Enom and their lack of professionalism in this matter.
