Anyone else having issues with Registerfly?

I have made duplicate payments for domains in good time (i.e not expired) but they have failed repeatedly to renew them. They have not refunded any monies paid and now as a result I have domain that has expired (still in redemption period) but they will not renew!

Clearly this could be viewed as theft and given that they have not bothered to respond with a satisfactory answer, I am referring it to my lawyers. To make matters worse I have an interested buyer for one of the domains.

I'd be greatful for any feedback on your experience as I compile evidence against this outfit.

Suffice to say I will be removing all my remaining names from Registerfly and never using them again.

Have you nothing better to do than find amusement in the losses suffered by other members? What a sad, miserable life you must lead. Don't bother posting unless you've got something constructive to say.

For your information or should I say delectation, I have already started the ball rolling against Registerfly. What is your motive? Are you hoping that by questioning/slating other members integrity/intentions you'll see action eventually taken against Registerfly, because you have a grievance against them yourself perhaps - but you just haven't got the courage of your convictions to see it through?

I think that's far more likely

I've never used Registerfly before. And if you think I find amusement in the losses suffered by other members than you didn't read my post very well or don't know that I try to help people on the forums whenever I can, especially in the legal section. I just think the legal threats against Registerfly are way overdone, to the point of being cliche. Yes, Registerfly deserves to be put out of business, but people post a thread on here every day threatening legal action against them and it goes nowhere. Legally speaking, a single person suing Registerfly can get nowhere, because you've agreed to their TOS and I guarantee that they have a clause in those TOS to protect them from whatever they have done to you. The only hope domainers have against Registerfly is to file a class-action suit, so that people can demonstrate on a large enough scale that these things are not happening due to some unforeseen error, but are caused intentionally or by negligence on their part. Even then it may be difficult and your rewards individually will be minimal. There was a story of a guy who was supposedly starting a class-action suit, but I've never heard anything more about it. If one seriously did come to fruition, I'd be behind it 100%. But legal threats and petitions aren't going to do anything except take up space on the Internet.

Also alot of my post was just commenting on how ICANN and registrars operate with complete impunity. Do I think its right? Hell no, but unfortunately I don't see anything changing any time soon.

Following my email to Registerfly, ICANN and Enom I have this evening received this important response from Enom.....

"YOU MUST TAKE ACTION NOW TO RETAIN FULL MANAGEMENT RIGHTS TO YOUR DOMAIN NAME.

Although you purchased your name at RegisterFly, eNom is the actual registrar of record for your domains. As we are severing our relationship with RegisterFly, we are aware that this may have an impact on you as the domain owner.
Therefore we would like to offer this opportunity to assist you in securing control of your domain name directly with eNom.

Over the last year, eNom has become aware of an increasing number of complaints from dissatisfied RegisterFly customers.

As an eNom reseller, RegisterFly is contractually bound to adhere to certain standards of customer service in a speedy and diligent manner. Therefore, effective immediately, we have terminated RegisterFly as a reseller of domain names through eNom.

Our records indicate that you are the registrant contact for x domains.

HOW TO SECURE CONTROL OF YOUR DOMAIN NAMES

Create a free account at eNom using the link below. Your domain names will automatically be moved to the eNom control panel where you will immediately have the ability to manage your domain(s).
In addition, these domains will receive a discounted renewal rate.

N.B. Link provided by Enom specific to you personally

There is no charge for this service, as eNom is already the registrar of record for your domains. Please reference our list of frequently asked questions page http://www.enom.com/migrate/faq.asp for additional information.
We look forward to helping you feel more secure about your domain management.

I'm sure this is the result of pressure from many within the forum and not just me obviously, although others would argue our efforts were futile

Good luck everyone!

To those of you wh ohave been charged for domains registrations or renewals but have not actually been able to successfully secure the domain, be careful.

From past experience I can tell you that the second you do a chargeback on yoru card, they will lock your account and steal all the domains in your account from you. Be forewarned. They charged my card multiple times for the same domains and would not refund me. then, I had to do a chargeback and the second it went through they closed my account and took all my domains from me. Back then, I did not know what to do and did nothing. I just took the losses and vowed never to use them again.

Best thing to do is get yoru domains out of RF and be done with them once and for all. Count your losses and move on and hope that someday they will be out of business for good.

I also got the same email this morning and have begun transferring out my domain names to another registrar.

But a very valuable domain name of mine is having the same problem as airwav's, i.e. showing "RRP" as the authentication code. This results in an "Invalid Authentication Code" error when I try to do a transfer. Anyone got a solution?

FYI, Registerfly just responded to eNom's email with the following:

----------------------------------------
Discontinuation of using reseller services with enom.com
We are aware that enom may have sent a notice in regards to the relationship between enom/registerfly.

As of February 2006 RegisterFly.com become an ICANN Accredited registrar. We formerly used to resell domain services under enom.com but stopped accepting registrations for them on February of 2006 (1 year ago). Since we are ICANN Accredited we have no need to process new registrations/transfers under enom anymore and spent the past year moving large numbers of names away from enom.com to RegisterFly.com. The amount of names remaining at enom.com is relatively small. Any registrations/transfers after February 1st 2006 are directly under RegisterFly.com, inc. which would not be affected by this.

Our top priority is ensuring our customers are not impacted in anyway during this transition. If you are a registerFly.com customer, rest assured we value your business and strive to offer the lowest possible pricing with the best online tools. For a limited time you can renew/transfer your name away from enom.com for only $5.99 per domain name. One year will be added upon
completion of the transfer. If you decide to stay with enom as the registrar you will pay considerably higher to renew than the special $5.99 rate we are offering. You can contact our customer care center at 305-674-0165 (8AM to 9PM) or via email at [email protected] on specifics on how to move your domain name(s) over and take advantage of these special savings today.

If you call within the next 48 hours and take advantage of this offer you will be eligible to receive an additional $7.99 account credit towards next years renewal.
----------------------------------------

So anyone interested in Registerfly's $5.99 promo?? :'(

Yes Tolkien, thanks. I received the same this morning. Obviously a last ditch attempt by RF to screw us for more money before they disappear into the Ether

Thanks for the warning, although I have already decided never to use these cowboys again.

this probably means that your domain is registered in enom, and to renew your domain you must fallow this enom instructions...

This Registerfly.com fiasco is turning into the biggest domain joke of all time. I just pushed my domains to Enom, per the email. I had 30, or so domains at RegisterFly.com . Most of them no big deal, I was just going to let them expire.
I looked at the domains that were pushed to Enom... a total of 8!! Luckily, the two domains I was really concerned about are included. Now for the laugh: They have included a domain I sold in 2005 for $75. It still shows my info, and is regged until Dec 2007? Geez... so what do I do with it?

Also, my latest Registerfly nightmare. I had hosting for 1 domain. I sent support ticket to cancel a few months back. They did so. Now they are trying to bill me again. (ha, luckily I have a new credit card number, and they can't!)

Apologies for delay in posting, but I've been out of town for the weekend

I actually sent my email to [email protected] but also copied [email protected] and [email protected].

You're spot on - a fiasco it certainly is!

Good luck to everyone who has posted with similiar problems and anyone else affected by this dire outfit!
