Anyone else having issues with Registerfly?

I have made duplicate payments for domains in good time (i.e not expired) but they have failed repeatedly to renew them. They have not refunded any monies paid and now as a result I have domain that has expired (still in redemption period) but they will not renew!

Clearly this could be viewed as theft and given that they have not bothered to respond with a satisfactory answer, I am referring it to my lawyers. To make matters worse I have an interested buyer for one of the domains.

I'd be greatful for any feedback on your experience as I compile evidence against this outfit.

Suffice to say I will be removing all my remaining names from Registerfly and never using them again.

A search at namepros for "registerfly problems" gives 6 pages of results, mostly ripe with people complaining, threatening to sue, losing accreditation etc.. It is a prolific topic here and elsewhere.

The thread I see 7 below yours is titled "registerfly-such crap".

RF has become their own registar, so when you renew your domain with them, you are actually transferring it to them. After it is transferred it has to stay with them for a minmum of 60 days before it can be transferred again.

RF service is TOTALLY UNACEPTABLE. I have had over 22 support tickets with them in the last 6 months! I have hosting and email for my business and it was always crashing, with the excuse "oh, we have to move it to another server"...if that is true, they moved me to 8 different servers in a period of 4 months!

Everytime my domain comes up for renewal, I TRANSFER it to a new registar.

Good luck.

Yeah...transfers are just as bad.

Go to pool or snapnames and place a backorder. Then tell RF that if they don't reimburse you, you will force the money out of their pompous asses.

Sorry for the language, I hate them also.

I just got an email from them today saying they have instituted increased phone support (with supposedly reduced hold times) and a whole new department for support. Not sure if this is true or not.

Expanded phone support
We have expanded our phone support department and have also established a dedicated support group to handle domain name renewal and registration inquiries. Hold times should be significantly reduced. The new phone number departments and extensions are as follows:

Please choose from one of the departments below

Contact Sales
973-404-8430 Option 1

Contact Billing Department
9 AM till 5PM EST (M-F)
973-404-8430 Option 3

Domain Renewal and Registration Support
9 AM till 6PM EST (M-F)
973-404-8430 Option 2

All other customer service issues - NEW

Yeah Fonzie, thanks for input

I saw that too, but I'm unconvinced about their efforts to resolve issues.

They've stung me too about 5 times over last few weeks and still haven't honoured the services I've paid for

They've lost my business for good!

I had a similar issue last week. I added enough funds to auto renew all my domain names but registerfly sent me emails notifying domain renewal failed. When i checked my account balance i noticed that the money is not refunded.

After 1 week later i did a manual renewal using funds direct from my paypal and managed to renew my domains and also lucky enough to get my previous refunds too. Registerfly has a very odd refund system. Don't worry you will get the refund asp. I think registerfly holds the funds until the domain name is renewed.

That email is an effort to entice customers. I wouldn't be surprised if non-users got the same message.

I am going to call them tomorrow. Any suggestions? I am thinking about threatening legal action.

Just last week I found this complaint site as I was trying for the fifth time to transfer away a handful of domains for a family member. It boggles the mind how a company like that can stay in business, and it's hard for me to imagine a customer experience worse than what I just went through with them (and I didn't even lose any domains like so many others).

A wealthy foreigner who needs help moving millions of dollars from his homeland promises a hefty percentage of this fortune as a reward for assisting him (Nigerian email scam).

Thatโ€™s pretty much the rep RF gets around here.

Seems apt to me slaughterbeck

Thankfully the bulk of my domains are elswhere, but I sympathise with anyone who is trying to transfer in/out or sell a domain they have registered with RF. I'll be trying to move mine out this week.

Another problem is that namepros members will be reluctant to buy names that are registered with RF because of the anticipated problems they'll encounter. It has a negative knock-on effect to us members and the whole industry.

I want to sign too! >:(

I have 45 domains there and have been trying to get autho codes. Was told it was on my account listed with my contact info. There is a place for it at the bottom of the page, but it has RRP in the spot the autho code should be... ;)

That reminds me that soon I too will have to attempt to move about 30 remaining names. If it doesn't go well then I'll sign it too! Gee what are the chances of that?

Best wishes,
Kimmy
