It says it is not available? Sounds like it may already be owned by someone else. Try visiting a whois site such as www.whois.sc or www.easywhois.com and see who owns it or if it's available.

If it is available for registration, I strongly recommend against using Register.com. Not only are they one of the most expensive, they have very restrictive policies such as charging $200 for ownership transfers. Domain registrations generally cost less than $15 now. GoDaddy.com and NameCheap.com are popular lower cost alternatives. eNom is also good if you have a discount account.

Best of luck,

I think that Luckyregister is also a good one

There is a good chance that one of NP members own the domain you referring to! Does it start with an "e"?

If it does start with an "e" that'd be one helluva guess...
And I second everyone else on staying away from register.com.

Register.com is WAY too expensive. I think they charge $19.99 per year.

Go to GoDaddy and get your domain for $8.99/yr and less. Stay away from registerfly also. They are a little cheaper than GoDaddy but they also are a cut-rate company that will most likely give you problems. My experience with them has been absolutely frustrating and all aroun dhorrible as they took my domains away from me that I paid for just becasue I disputed a bogus charge after they would not reverse it after several weeks of contacting them. they never responded, never reversed the bogus charge, so I disputed it. hten they locked my account nad took all of my domains away from me. In some circles this is called "stealing".

Also, I've yet to have a serious problem with RegFly, and their prices are outstanding in comparison to Register.com or the like.

I used register.com when I first got into this business. I have moved to cheaper registrars, better service and more tools(RegisterFly.com being one of them).
