Recording and publishing

Hello everyone

I have noticed that many websites are recording shows off television and then publishing them on their websites. I want to know that is this legal? I asked my previous webhost about it and according to him it was legal, until the owner of the website says that the copyright of the video belongs to the following television. So can anyone please clarify this?

Erm not sure where your host gets that idea.

Is stealing from a shop legal until the shop keeper sees you?

It is against copyright laws. Also alot of programs are not owned by Television stations they pay for the right to broadcast it.

well...I guess that depends on whether this particualar TV show is licensed in your country. I suppose you can't be charged of crime if the TV show isn't licensed in that country :] . But yea...you shouldn't do it...its not right.
