Yes I'd say the .in extension is popular, so is the .co.in (not sure which is more, but I think .in will take over soon). Like with most countries the .com still leads the race though.

Theres a whole big discussion about this in other relevant parts of the forum, have a quick search and you'll find some interesting stuff.
