So true. I read Rick Latona's blog about his trip to Spain. He was shocked by how widely used the .es domain was there. This is the myopia of America, even for smart guys like him. I live in Japan, and travel a lot. It is obvious to me that ccTLDs are going to be king for each country. If the country is Vanatu, that means nothing. But for large countries like China and India, each with 3 or 4 times the population of the US, it's obvious. If only 20% of the people make enough money to be out buying domains, that means 200 million in India and a little more in China (though this is changing). Germany is, what...maybe 70 million?

I think who compares .in and .co.in to .ws or .cc is making a very big big mistake.
You have to compare it to .de or .cn
If you think about .de and (for example) the recent sale of Kredit.de for 1.13$ milions you can imagine what .india will be in the future. It's not a short term investment, you have to hold it for a few years but you will have satisfactions....

That's the point. There are more .de registered than .net (just to make an example). This summer i was in Ireland and every shop has is own .ie website (just to make another example).

.Com's are the best

well no matter you could get lll.in but even if you compare it with .com's it would have more value.. than any other domain... as most of the noob people think that internet is just .COM ... so if thats the market u targeting... .Com's are the best.

though exceptions are always dere. ;)

.in and co.in have a good future as I see more and more business websites using these extensions to cater to the indian market.

lll.in v/s lll.com - no competition, .com rules. However, even if lll.in actually stabilises at 1% of lll.com, most hand reggers will be winners.

Would I launch a new site on lll.in, yes, already have in fact already.

Why then would lll.in be less valuable than .com, specially since the functions are the same, its basically brand value, any 'brand' 70% of the people would automatically attach .com to it, not for long though.

Yes, but just comparing .in to .com is insane, it's like comparing apples with bananas.
You have to compare it to other CCTld like .de or .co.uk...
If I think that lll.it (italy cctld) are buy out and Italy is a nation of 60 milion person i can only be optimistic for the future of lll.in
