I am pitching the theory that there are three main types of shopping:

  • Hunting - Using #SearchEngines to save time
  • Browsing - Using #BrowseEngines to save effort
  • Catching - Using #CatchEngines to save money
I am presenting the case that a more accurate scientific name for social media organisations is #BrowseEngines as this helps people understand why they exist more efficiently. This is based on a neuroscience theory that the brain has three compartments. One compartment is past oriented, one compartment is present oriented and a third compartment is future oriented. The theory is that:
  • You search through your past
  • You browse through your present
  • You catch your future
There is a scientific methodology that there has to be three ways to shop as each brain compartment consumes data in a different way. If my theory is held correct, browse keywords and catch keywords are underrated in domaining as younger generations will prefer this more accurate linguistic definitions of social media and will be attracted to the cost cutting benefits of catch engines.

I have been working on my #CatchEngine business model for the last decade and I realised yesterday that #CatchEngine is the right name for it. I think that the reason I had difficulty in recognising the "Catch" word is that catching as a skill is both positioning and waiting and so it is doing two things at once. That made the word catch a very hard word to find and it took me over 10 years to find it. In terms of shopping, most people don't know how to catch bargains and that is what I aim to teach people how to do through my catch engine business project.

I am standing by my position that social media companies should be rebranded as browse engines. If I am right, there are a lot of great browse engine based domain names that are available at registration fee that may be considered bargain prices in the future.

The thing is that domainers understand the power of catching more than most industries as #dropcatching businesses are an established part of the domain name market infrastructure. They provide an environment for domainers to buy discarded domains at floor prices. I am arguing that I have an algorithm that expands the reach of catching past this and opens more opportunities for people to buy things at floor prices.

This diagram above gives better context to my theory. I use the term #Navigation7 to emphasise the theory that there are seven dimensions to navigation.

  • Search Engine helps with perception
  • Browse Engine (Social Media) helps with expression
  • Catch Engine helps with reception
  • Map helps with structure
  • Compass helps with orientation
  • Journey helps with balance
  • Destination helps with targeting
This model can be linked with "6 Dimensions Of Wellness" that there is 40 years of research linked to it. I am arguing that #CatchEngines are the opportunity of the future. The advanced level of navigation efficiency they provide is what I believe is comparative to the impact that search engines and social media have provided society. Now that I have this Venn Diagram, I have something simple enough for a child to understand.

The thing you must understand about me is that I enjoy the competition for developing catch engine technology. I see the huge poverty alleviation potential of catch engines and so I am not worried about competition making better Catch Engines than me. I want to be public about what I am doing so that more competition can enter the #CatchEngineMarket. I believe #Catch is the word that I have been looking for and #Navigation gives #Catching context. If the #CatchEngine name takes off, there are a lot of good undervalued catch related domain names.
