Many high school wrestling games in my area have been canceled due to the fact that many wrestlers have contracted herpes during matches. I am so glad I'm not a wrestler. And it kinda sucks for the wrestlers who got it since herpes is a virus it isn't curable, just treatable.

Wow, how did they all get herpes. Around our town it was ringworm. I would honestly sue the city and the school if that happened to me. It is their duty to keep it clean. Wrestlers always pick up viruses. Wrestling should just be removed as a sport, imho.

Yeah, no kidding. I'd be mad if I gpt herpes LOL. And it should be their job to check every player for anything possible that they might have.

I now remember a few days ago, a wrestler at my school who was in one of my classes said he had ringworm. I don't know if he knew he could have gotten it from wrestling.

A lot of people don't know/don't understand what's out there in the sports world. You can't really sit there and test for anything and everything because all sports pretty much have that danger though wrestling certainly seems to have the most intimate contact. For example, MRSA and similar things are found on all types of athletes...football, soccer, baseball, etc. You can't just quit playing everything but there are steps to take and it all starts with proper hygene and cleaning of playing areas.

Maybe the wrestling uniform should cover more of the genital area than it currently does.
