Hey folks,
I've been around for a while, but I've never understood the hype for 3 or 4 letter domains "lll.com" "llll.com" that often times makes absolutely no sense to me (not a word, and just seems obscure).

As I am starting to explore the domain industry a little now that I have a little time and a smaller amount of money to invest with, I'm just wondering. Why?? What's the deal? Why can some be so valuable??

This is a great community, but I've definitely used it more for the purpose of social networking and web development... I think I'm going to start focusing in on domains a little more now. I've already been reading up a lot, and will continue to do so...

the hype for LLL.com's are specifically for two main reasons, one being that they are rare and all of them are taken, and second, LLL.com's can have a lot of abbreviations that companies can use for their websites, such as JCP.com (JC Penny's)....

The same can now be said for LLLL.com's, all of them are now registered, therefore there value has gone up.

And most of the other non premium lll/llll.com names,

Having "bad" letters like qzxy are beind sold between domainers, rarely end users.

they go from 1 domainer to the next.

still a good investment lll.com's not so much llll.com's unless you have a premium name with all good letters.

Take a look at http://www.4letternoob.com - it's a blog put together by Reece, a moderator and well-known member here at NamePros. He writes out very well all the reasons why investing in 4 Letter Domains (and less) is worthwhile.

You may choose a different niche if that doesn't "turn you on" - it's all about finding what works for you! :D
