Raw Meat - http://www.rawmeat.com - features fun, interesting and weird websites from all over the Internet. Visitors can vote, comment and submit their own links.

I didn't design this site myself, but I'm posting this for suggestions and comments.

PS: If you know of some interesting links, feel free to sign up and submit them.

Hi

The site is very well structured and the colour scheme works well. However, it may pay to have a small welcome notice above all the links just so people know what its about, you could even just copy the meta description over... on that note, perhaps you could make it so that the meta is relevant to each page - like in the games page, the meta has the game titles.

A home link would be good on the main menu, for easier site navigation. I notice you have a message in the yellow bar at the top. That is quite useful and could probably be emphasised more.

You have lots of validation errors, see this link: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.rawmeat.com/index.php

It is overall a quite nice website with lots of content.

Thanks for the comments. I'll be considering implementing several of them.

For the validation errors, some of them don't seem to make sense, like the HEAD tags not complete. Both opening and closing tags are there on the page.

Adam

Too busy, the text is too small and the site is difficult to read being so dark!

I would guess you have updated the colors because it's light text on a dark background for me. I like the color scheme.

I would recommend making the bones light up as you hover over them for a vote. For an example you can see the stars on www.blockbuster.com. I am using that on an intranet site and you'd be amazed how excited users get over that little function.

Hi

It could be that because the previous tag wasn't properly opened and closed that it made the "head" tag obsolete.

Your "sponsor" box which is under the "user login" box is not the same width. Neither is your Search Rawmeat.

Can I ask why you called the site "rawmeat"? Why is the navigation below the categories part on the left?

Hmmm, I'm still not able to find any open tags. I'll have to look some more.

Your "sponsor" box which is under the "user login" box is not the same width. Neither is your Search Rawmeat.

So these are showing as different sizes for you? What browser/screen resolultion are you using? Can you send me a screenshot of that? I've tested on several browsers and resolultions and don't see that happening.

Can I ask why you called the site "rawmeat"? Why is the navigation below the categories part on the left?

I picked up RawMeat.com on a drop. I thought it was a catchy name, and would be good for a site that posted links.. kind of like the raw news, the meat of the matter, etc. Who knows, that could be a far stretch :)

I just added that navigation last night. Where else would it go, if not under the categories? I should change that header, because it's not really navigation - it's more like site info.

I like the site myself - some items are a bit explicit ... But the layout and general idea behind it is pretty cool B-) The font and Background do hurt the eyes a bit - But I personally think that is because so many folks are used to White backgrounds etc .... :tu:

Looks good, crowded and hurts to look at it though. Maybe lighter colors would help.

Hi

I am using a 1280x1024 resolution and the comments were made when I was browsing using MSIE6 but I also ran it in 1024x768 and the boxes still didn't align.

Where should the navigation go? At the top I suggest, as the navigation is an imperative part of any website it is recommended that it takes precendent over categories. Besides, you can view the categories title under the navigation.

Either that or put your navigation at the top on that bar and not need the box at all. I think it may be a matter of personal taste where it goes but you certainly need an easy to use form of navigation and site map.

Thanks for the continued suggestions and comments. I've made some changes and tweaks based on the input I've received. I think I fixed the table size problems you mentioned, music_man.

I guess the colors are a personal preference. I have some people who love them, and others who aren't crazy for them.

If any of you know of some cool links, feel free to submit them. I'll probably be running some contests soon based on member participation, best links submitted, etc.
