Just saw this in a RSS feed a little while ago,
Quinn Daly answers all the questions everyone was asking at Allthings.TV

I feel good about what I read, and I think Quinn is doing a tremendous job and I have nothing but confidence in her and the Demand Media team.

clarification

(excerpt from allthings.tv interview with qdaily)

The “prices are subject to change” clause is standard. To be clear, Verisign has the option to change premium pricing ONLY AFTER the name expires and goes back into the registration pool. For example, if someone bought several .tv premium names, any names that are not renewed on their anniversary would be re- priced before being made available again. They will not be changed on existing registrants in normal cases.

Exactly Tim what are NOT "normal cases" I thought it was interesting where she said prices will not go up that was a good point to. So it looks like Premium fees should be fine. Nice Job James

Thanks James, very thorough.

For me personally it has changed how I will proceed, but not in a huge way as it was what I expected. The questions on pricing were finally cleared.....although I myself still wholeheartedly disagree with how they are doing it. ( i wish they would just release them all into the wild and let a land rush kick start this beast, but that is just me )

It also, personally, solidified my stance. They are more interested in forging coorporate relationships then with the people of myspace. Yes, I know they adressed that, but they also skipped over the whole "mySpace is free" thing and tv is not. I would like to see how they plan to counter that.

Aside from that, thanks to Quinn for giving the response. I do appreciate it individually.

Prediction: (I will get severely dismissed for this) In 3 months, all these questions and more will be being asked all over again by a new group of people.

Didnt learn anything new from that interview. Not saying it was bad... just saying it was rehash imo.

Sure we will have to hang in waiting mode for about half a year to see anything revolutionary out of DM.

I think that the pricing policy was given as much clarity as it will ever get.

I was told at one point that a joint statement on pricing policy by Verisgn and DM was forthcoming. That has not taken place which is a shame.

Essentially now, investors will need to go to a blog for some comfort regarding pricing policy as opposed to a clear statement by Verisign - the real player in all of this.

However, whilst Allthings.TV is a "just a blog", I think it is a good one ( heads must be shaking at this point!) and has established itself a good reputation in the small amount of time it has been around.........and I as an investor in the extension, am happier with my .tv investments as a result of the clarification on pricinfg policy no matter where it is to be found......

I also want to thank Quinn for giving of her time in answering some really tough questions.....make no mistake about Quinn....I have enjoyed a very good relationship with her to date following a rocky start.......she is without doubt giving her absolute all to make .TV a success......

I pray every day she succeeds.....it will be my retirement package!!

Thanks Kev for the write up.....appreciated....

Your right James it is nuts Verisign could not make a statement and put it on ENOM.tv when people register domains. Personally I always believed they would not raise renewal fees but the average person a non domainer does not know about namepros or Allthings.tv we need them to know when they see the Faq "Oh I can reg a domain, what is this line prices can go up? then two down in the FAQ prices will never go up.

I thought the line about being happy with 2300 Me.tv was interesting and then later talking about millions of .tv domains. Either way good Interview Thank you James and Thank you Quinn.

SHowbiz you are probably right new people will not have read the interview because they are new to .tv and they will ask the same questions about pricing.

Good interview but..

I think the interview was good and had alot of clarification for the domainers on the board, but I also think there should be some sort of statment put on the website (s) to clarify this. It is such an easy thing to do and would give others the answer to the questions they might have about pricing IMO.

Sometimes we just feel lucky if they give us 20-30 minutes for an interview. They throw us a bone or rawhide, and we are pacified for a while. That's what I get after reading interviews with DM. Not a lot of meat on this inteview bone in my opinion.

I am not so naive to think they are not doing more than we see. But I think I had a different idea of what they would do to help promote those who were using .TV.

They definitely haven't done everything they told me they would do.

Oh well.

Greedy Are we? :$: :)

Maybe there could've been some tougher questions (I thought they were just fine), but by no means should you expect them to just tell us everything they're planning or thinking of. It's just silly to think that. You don't build a business by giving away your secrets and ideas in public forums and hope your competitors don't act on them.

A great interview and I'm glad they're open to having a dialogue with us in this type of depth. Very well done James, Very well indeed.

Now off to buy more .tvs :tu:

Not a greedy bone in my body.

I have an investment I am watching out for.

OK, I will restate once more.

I know they are doing more than they tell us. That's cool.
I know my site is not their top priority.
I know they are saving their good material for interviews with major media outlets.
I know these things.

Here are some things I don't understand:

But why it has been so quiet on the front lines - I don't know.
There is a window of opportunity to market .TV as a video rich extension. It is only a matter of time before people realize that you can make .info as media friendly as .TV. So why is the start-up so slow. It takes more fuel to get off of the launching pad than any other phase of any mission. Yet people talk abuot the big push later on.

Having said all of that:
I believe in .TV. I have developed my .TV more than most other projects. I love talking about .TV.
I think I am a little let down by the restating of the obvious, and seeing the addition of things that should have been available at launch of ChannelMe, i.e. uploadability of UGC.

And for the record, it is hard to swallow a "just give them time" from people who are not DEVELOPING .TV's. That is aimed at no one. Just a general statement.

I feel like the only one who is seeing what I am saying. And if I am making no sense, I will gladly step away from the conversation when I hear my peers that I have confidence in say I should.
