Hey,

I have a quick PC question about RAM and Processors.
I want to find out which PC is best, for speed and performance, overall, out of the 3 below.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

PC 1
Processor speed: 2.0 GHz
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2
Memory (RAM): 1GB

PC 2
Processor speed: 2.8 GHz
Processor: Intel Pentium D
Memory (RAM): 2GB

PC 3
Processor speed: 1.8 GHz
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory (RAM): 1GB

Would the Processors in PC 1 and 3 make up for 1GB less, from PC 2?

If it was your decision, and you wanted speed/performance, which one would you go for? :tu:
Price isn't a issue, they are roughly all the same price.
They would be running Windows Vista Home Premium, so i know it needs 512MB RAM :(

I know PC3 would cost more than PC 1, but, it's the RAM in PC2, and the Processors in PC 1 & 3 that have got me deciding.

Thanks

Adrian

EDIT: If you guys could type a list out too, best to worst.
eg
1
3
2

That would be great. :tu:

i think i would go for PC2 but if you can get a 2GB Ram for the PC3 its not bad too, i need plenty of Ram for resources eating softwares like CS2 and Dreamweaver. also im running Apache and Mysql in my PC so RAM wut matters me most.

I would go for the 2Gig Ram also. But the software I run also seems to like lots of memory, which I dont have.

Ok, thanks for the advice.
Rep added to both. :tu:

But, would the Processors in PC1 and PC3 make up for the lack of RAM? :red:

I think RAM is more influential. When we want to upgrade PC, we should go for RAM first, rather than CPU.

do you not have the option of upgrading how much ram is put into the machines. Ram is very cheap nowadays (unless you buy from places such as dell).

I would also go with option two.

Go with a faster AMD CPU and 2GBs of ram. I'm currently using a 3800x2 with 1GB of ram and it's still blazing fast.

:imho:

I agree with you,

I would go with the faster processor then just buy more ram.... because ram isnt to expensive
