Questions from a newbie

Hi, i just joined here. I have some questions about my website and the websites SEO.

1. I made it about 1 week ago. Google just crawled it yesterday. My site is a "freight Contact" website. I am already ranked 11th out of 144,000,000 results under "shipper contacts", which is my ideal search term. I am not paying anything to be there, and developed site, keywords, and tags myself. Is this great?

2. If companies wanted to buy my site/domain, will this help the value?

3. I am also 1st under the search term freight help, and 2nd under freight contacts. I put google adsense on my site yesterday and have made $8. I am not doing any advertising yet, and have had 180 visitors in 3 days. Is this good so far?

If the domain is totally new then this is awesome, actually even if the domain was old this is still good. You are doing a fantastic job so far

Thanks. I just bought the domain 1 week ago. I added it to my other site - freightadvisor.com.
I actually got the domain free with my purchase of a website hosting acct.

I worked on it for 5 days, and this is what has happened. I was shocked when I went to google a bit ago and saw that it was already crawled and its rankings.

"freight Contact" does not appear to be a competitive term...You will see a large number of results for that because so many sites have "contact" pages, and obviously anyone in the freight industry will include the term. The large number of results, however, is not a true indication of how competitive it is.

2. Ranking for competitive terms will help resale value of your site.

3. The number of visitors isn't great. It looks like some revenue is coming in, which is good, but I'd keep developing and eventually target more competitive terms.

For him being a noob and only have the site up for a week and getting $8 on adsense this is awesome. Obviously there is room for improvement but for the amount of time and his skill level this is a GREAT start!

Regardless of who you are if you got a domain thats a fresh reg pulling in 180 UV in 3 days without advertisements thats very very good.

If I wanted to find a buyer that might have a use for my site/domain, how would I go about that?

If i were you i would run it for a couple months and collect detailed stats of revenue and traffic. Then once you have that i would try and sell it here at namepros or another domain forum or webmaster forum. If you continue to get more and more revenue you should be able to profit from this quite well. Work on the design and system a little more to make the site more attractive. Good work though!

I am a Freight Broker. I sell a subscription to my site for the shipper database. I have signed up 20+ people in 4 days with no advertising. I also just looked at my adsense. It has done $9.08 today off of the top banner on my homepage. How would I make it more attractive? Thanks a million Tivo

I agree it's a nice start, the problem is that with a non-competitive phrase and already decent rankings, he may already be close to the maximum possible revenue.

When the site is solidified (he may find his nice rankings temporary) I'd go for tougher terms that have more traffic, and likely higher click payments.

That is one, but the better one I am using is freighthelp.net. They are connected for my business. Also, I just saw that beside my result in google, there is a time of 8:03 .... What is that?

Start by creating pages for each phrase you want to target, add appropriate content, use heading tags and include the terms in your title tag. I would start a blog on the site where you can post information, images, articles, videos...whatever you can to help attract links and users. Place something great on the pages you want to rank to entice people to link to them. Create tools, offer some free information, get attention!

Keep reading about search marketing...it's a time-consuming endeavor. I recommend seobook.com
