I found that FP is not that hard to use, however I have spent many hours just to figure out a few weird things.

I have a few questions about frontpage xp (I search FP's help function and did not get the answer):

1. how to read or import a website?
frontpage can either i) open an existing website or ii) import a website.
i) When I tried to open a website that I handed code before, which file should I load? If I load the index.html, then other files are not loaded automatically.
ii) If I use the "import" function, it does not work properly either, the links and internal structure are not there.

2. how to set a default file locatoin?
I simply do not know how to set a default file location. Currently the default location is at my system disk, I want it to be at my data disk.

3. how not to save my web directories.
everytime I open a new template just to try to see what it looks like, without saving the webpage, however the web directory is always created and saved as myweb7 and next time it will be as myweb8 etc. My question is: how can I not to save these mywebx directories? (since I am just testing some templates).

1. Rather than Import the site you should open a local copy of the site and "Publish" it to the web address. Of course FP extensions will need to be installed.

2. I'm not sure what you mean by this one. Do you mean when you save a file?

3. I have never had this problem with FP. No files/folders should be created at all unless you save the website.

Re: 1) If your Web site is online, you read or import it by domain, e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com. If your Web site resides on your PC, import it by its root directory, not by the file name of the index page.

Re: 2) You can publish your Web site to any hard drive directory you choose, including a new one.

Re: 3) Don't know why this is happening.

I would agree, Dreamweaver isn't created by Bill Gates, it will be easier.

How exactly is that supposed to help him with a FrontPage problem?
I don't see him asking for recommendations on other software, I see him asking for help with an MS Frontpage problem.
