Thread/Reply without Frontpage ?

How do I create a thread/reply paging system on a site without using Frontpage? My current site is all built in Frontpage but my hosting company doesn't accept Frontpage server extensions. So use the FTP account.

How do I create a Namepros style thread/reply page like the ones they use on this site? Do I have to start building in a completely different software now?

Thanks for any help or advice I you can give !! :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

i think what you need is a forum software. you won't be able to make your own (since you are using frontpage and seem to be a beginner web developer) so I suggest looking into some free forums like phpbb.

Look into some free forum software like MyBB, SMF, phpBB. Namepros uses vBulletin, but you could also Invision Power Board if you're looking to pay for forum software.

So does this mean that Frontpage is pretty much a waste of my time and should I look into using a better web software?

the web software doesn't really have much to do with it.

frontpage, dreamweaver, etc are all WYSIWYG editors (what-you-see-is-what-you-get). these are good for making websites with just plain html (nothing interactive / dynamic). while they're good for beginners, experts don't even touch them except for maybe the code view part (i use dreamweaver because of the code coloring, etc).

forums (or anythign else that is dynamic or database driven, like most modern sites) use serverside scripting, such as PHP, etc. you can start to learn php (i strongly recommend it) to grow an appreciation for how complex these forum softwares are. however, i stick to my suggesiton of installing and just playing around with premade things like phpbb, etc.
