I just got MS Frontpage 2002 and need to develop a website that submits to, and searches in, a database. I used the sample database templete in Frontpage, but can't figure out how to set up the server side. When I submit the data in the sample page, I get a script error. I have experience with SQL and am a programmer by profession, but I just can't seem to get started with Frontpage. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Ditch FrontPage, use another editor if you need to for the HTML and if your a programmer by profession you should be able to sort the DB stuff no probs, FrontPage is an industry no no in a lot of places and for people I have worked with. Just my 2 cents :D

Dreamweaver is my recommendation, especially for a programmer! ;)

Well, that's kind of disappointing. I was looking for some help. If I was able to "sort out the db stuff" I wouldn't have posted. Will the db stuff be easier to sort out in Dreamweaver?
Thanks.

:hehe: sorry didn't mean anything by that, I just presumed that as you stated you were a programmer and needed help with the interface in Frontpage :]

Dreamweaver is always better IMHO, thats just my preference though, what I do is design initially in dreamweaver and use notetab for hand-coding and modifying the DB stuff. Sorry I must of misunderstood your post,

Warm Wishes,

I'm not a programmer, but have used Frontpage for a long time. FP is only friendly for .asp type MS databases and you need a plugin to be able to edit php pages correctly.

I've heard Dreamweaver is more friendly to non-MS databases and scripts, particularly php.

For FP, I'd recommend checking the Frontpage usenet groups which are pretty active with users who may have done what you need to do.

Thank you both for your comments. I will check the FP groups and see what they have to say.
