I helped someone out on this forum who needed me to register a domain name and give him free hosting. I did.

His part of the deal was to design me unlimited designs, like banners and logos.

I put some Google ads on his site as well because it was sucking bandwidth like there was no tomorrow, and he removed them today or yesterday without telling me.

To make a long story short, he didn't keep up his end of the bargain. So now his site and domain are mine.

Anyway, I need to know, with a Solaris phpbb [forum] how do I get his admin info changed to mine? I don't know his password for the admin / forum and I need it before I can sell the domain/site that is rightfully mine now.

What should I do? Anyone have ideas?

Ouch.. Well I don't think I should tell you.. You should work this out with the person. Before you start taking and selling his stuff..

Sorry..

Well the domain is mine anyway, that was a part of the agreement, I guess it doesn't matter if he keeps the content, but he shouldn't have violated the agreement, you know?

Well yah... If you are hosted on a cPanel server go into cpanel than into mysql db than into phpMyAdmin and find the database with tables called phpbb_* and find users or admin and edit.

What if I backed up the website and db, then deleted all of his files, then reuploaded them, and re-do the admin functions on solaris, would that work?

What you SHOULD have done, is get written or electronically-signed agreements somehow.

Also, if editing in PHPmyAdmin, be sure to make the password encrypted the same way the software encrypts their passwords, in most cases MD5, or PASSWORD.

Well I backed up the files, then deleted his forum. Now I am trying uploading the site onto another domain to test the admin hack.
