Ok I am asking this here instead of phpbb because i don't want them to automatically support phpbb and not give an honest answer...

ok this is my question..

I have a wordpress driven site that has coppermine gallery integrated with it (they are sharing the same database) now i want to add a forum and for right now im going to use phpbb I purposely put that on a seperate db due to phpbb's lack of security (i've had problems with sites being hacked) now i was thinking of integrating the phpbb and coppermine gallery so the users can use the gallery for posting images.... Now if my forum were to get hacked would they also have access to the wordpress and coppermine db too?

This site is for a friend of mine other wise i would automatically use vb...even though im considering using one of my leased licenses that im not currently using...

If you use the same database for all three apps, and 1 of them gets hacked (so if even just 1 web app is weak in security), the hacker will have access to all of the database.

I think I understand correctly?

Well i have phpbb on a seperate db but i will intergrate it with coppermine (on a seperate db)

Hmm... so the users are in a 2 databases? Meaning 2 different registrations?

If they can get into one, they can PROBABLY get into the other.

maybe i wont intergrate it with coppermine and just keep the coppermine gallery for the owner of the site and add either phpbb gallery or another instance of copperine or just be nice and use vb...

either that or just make sure to make a daily back up of the db's

Do both. ALWAYS keep daily backups of actively-used databases.
