Hello,

Well I was thinking about starting up my hosting business again and this time offer domain registering services too. I don't want to post much info about what I plan to do, just basics and was wondering if you guys think it would be successful and possibly even have you guys use it.

First off I would have friendly and as much helpful as possible support
Domains would be priced at about $7.75 for new and $7.45 to transfer
Hosting would be low cost too
Paypal and MoneyBookers And Egold would be accepted

Thoughts?(also sorry if this is in the wrong section). Thanks!

well I would set the domain/hosting prices low at first to build up reputation then raise the prices, because if I were to choose between the $7.75 domains from your site or the $8.95 domains from GoDaddy, I would choose GoDaddy.

If you cant beat domainsite ($6.99), then dont bother.

Thier $6.99 doesnt give the DNS features though. It takes $7.99 to get them

Well I think usually domainers tend to use big registrars like enom, moniker, godaddy and namecheap etc for their business. There are chances to make money from domain and hosting but your service should be targetted to webmasters who just need a host and a url to build their sites, not domainers who make a living from buying and selling domains. I have a hosting site running but I never advertise here in NP. Even myself never use my own hosting site to register domains because I know it will never be as secure as Moniker.
Just IMO.

We have domains from 6.99, and offer everything the big registrars do, unfortuantely domainers still seem to prefer the big ones. Or they don't know about us. Don't think there is much money in it domains.

I prefer using godaddy and i know everyone prefers using the bigger guys.

I'd recommend you merging with a smaller one or a couple of smaller ones to make a reasonable sized one, get all you sites redirecting to the new one and have on the re-directing page ''Redirecting to our new company'' or something like that and tell them about the merger between the compaines and it makes you bigger and able to compete with peope like ''GoDaddy'' and then you can make money out of domains and hosting :)

Nope.

My domains are spread around too many registrars already. I have domains at 7 registrars now I think. It gets confusing!

<< hosting recommendation removed -- DON'T USE HOSTGATOR! >>

Not to mention the most important rule - never register domains with a host and never host with a registrar!

I am always on for a bargain, but hosting is so keen now, I host all my domains at dreamhost where I get unlimited domains, 20Gb space and 75Gb monthly transfer for $22.40 per annum. (with a coupon).

If you can offer similar specs next year, I would be tempted.

I'm getting $6.95 pricing at Moniker and their customer service is superb. Additionally, I have my hosting through Polurnet.com and am happy with their service. In other words, I personally would not use your service as I am happy with my present services. Nonetheless, I will you the best in your business endeavor.
