Question about value

I have a one word .com domain with no particular meaning such as a product, service etc. (LLLLLL)The name shows 17,400 msn hits on estibot with a value of $170.00. The reason I think for the hits are there is someone with a screen name that is the same. The person chats in forums, dating sites etc. There are also other people with the same screen name.

My question is considering the reason for the hits is there any potential value?

I haven''t reg'd it yet and not sure I will. Just curious about something such as this.

This is a borderline case, IMHO.

It is short, a plus - if it is in an ordinary dictionary (not the big, unabridged or technical dictionaries) another plus. That more than one person choose it to be their username is a big plus - that means it is something people can relate to.

But no business or obvious website use is the big minus. If Estibot gives it 170 for a dictionary word (EB likes the dictionary) that means it is not a big deal.

So this one comes down to you, and specifically your time/money . If you have so little money and so much time that you need to reg only the very best that you can find, throw this one back in the pool - another 3 hours looking and you will find a better one. If you have some money to invest and not endless tiime to dig for the gems, this one (if the above assumptions are correct) will do OK for you. You probably could flip it for a small profit but probably not enough to make it worth your time.

I think ordinary dictionary words are a good long term hold, your mileage may vary.

Thanks accent for your opinion. I can't really see someone using this as a website name but then again I've seen many websites with strange names.

It all depends on whether or not you are able to find the right buyer. If you find the right guy you might get a pretty penny out of it
