Question about transferring domains...

Newbie here with a question...

Say I have a few domains with one registrar and a few with another. If I were to transfer all of them to one place, is that also like renewing them? Would the new expiration date be one year from the transfer date or would it stay the same?

The new expiration date will be the old expiration date + one year.
