Question About OVT w/e Results

Can you tell me what does it mean if a term shows up as two words when searching for OVT with extension?

For example,

Suppose I search for abc.com (with the extension) in OVT, and I get xxx abc.com as having 50 results.

Then when i search for xxx-abc.com, it brings 50 results.
Searching for xxxabc.com brings zero results

So what does it mean? That people are searching for the term with the hyphen, i.e., xxx-abc.com? Or does it mean that people are not searching for the xxxabc.com term at all?

Kinda confused here and would like some help.

similarly to Google Search , Overture (which is basically based on Yahoo Search , but maybe on other data too) sees the hyphen as <space>

therefore the " 50_____xxx abc.com " you are getting when you search for "xxx-abc.com" are for Yahoo Search searches for "xxx-abc.com" or/and "xxx abc.com"

also , searches for "xxxabc.com" logically are zero ... otherwise Overture would probably show those results too (do an OV search for "free sex.com" and "free-sex.com" for example)

so would that mean that if I do find any unregged names that have say, 50 results for xxx abc.com, I should reg it?

Thanks for the info btw.

that would depend on a lot of things ...

searches for "xxx abc.com" are probably searches for a keyword "xxx" (usually free , coupon , etc) for an established site "abc.com" (usually a paysite or a site with a subscription , etc) ... eg. "free playboy.com" ... as well as a variety of other cases ...

is the "abc" part TMed ? I don't suggest buying TM ot typoTM domains even if they get traffic ...

supposing that the searches are for "xxx-abc.com" and there are no trademark issues ...

then if the searches were triggered by people typing-in "xxx-abc.com" while having Yahoo as their browser's default search engine , which can trigger a Yahoo search for the domain that was typed-in if it was not registered , then xxx-abc.com might get some traffic ... remember , though , that the OV data is from January ...

if it was from people searching for "xxx-abc.com" in Yahoo and not typing it in , if you get it indexed in Search Engines (or maybe even if you don't get indexed from type-ins) again it might get some traffic ...

I don't believe you have to worry about TM issues with "abc" - it is too generic.

MCD - I think he meant abc as in "a word" to differentiate it from xxx which is logically "another word" , different from the "abc" one ...
