Question about GoDaddy closeout

I bought a domain from the list of godaddy closeouts. However they took the money but no notification of payment and no sign of the domain. Anyone any idea how long the process takes? I feel dirty using godaddy lol.

I buy some closeouts domain some months ago...takes more than 10 days to close the deal and see my new domains...

I buy 3 domains from GD closeout 2 domains come in my account within 7 days but third domain still waiting for last 10 days..

They tell you the date that they will move the domain into your account.

View Bidding List > Won then in the far right column they give Status. Typically about a week later you'll have it.

Wow didn't realise it would be so long. It's rude I think to not even acknowledge a purchase - no email - nothing. Thanks for that drew.
*edit* found that page thanks. I was downloading the csv earlier from the right hand side of the link and that doesn't show the date it will change. Apparently 6 days lol. Also love the fact they charge me 11 gbp ($15) for a domain renewal when I am paying $8.39 at moniker. They really are the scummiest registrar around.

Was it a private purchase or an expired domain? Not sure what "closeout" is. If it was a private owner who knows.

I've been working with GoDaddy on a purchase they are brokering for like two months. I accepted the deal in the first email.

If it is an expired auction they are usually 7 to 10 days. I have seen the status go from "Domain will be ready on DATE" to "Domain is ready transferring on DATE" and other type statuses.

Basically, they do what they want, when they want. As we both agree... feeling dirty is the appropriate response.

Chat with them, that's what i do and they give me some godaddy auction admin email.

After a domain has been expiring and doesn't get any bids it goes into closeout. Gospammy want to hang on until the very last second to eek out a few dollars from people. The time waiting I guess is where they now go to the previous owner, who didn't renew, and say 'hey someone is going to buy your domain unless you pay x dollars to get your domain back'.

finally my domain come in my account today, i contacted godaddy support staff today and they solve my problem within a hour.

GoDaddy closeouts usually takes a couple days, its not that you pay and get the domain immediately.
If you feel dirty for using GoDaddy, I feel proud to be a GoDaddy client, 100% of my portfolio is on GoDaddy.

If you want you can open an account on NetSol and get scammed on their marketplace, like the poor guy that bought domainnames.com there and NetSol removed the domain from his account. lol

Yeah thanks but no thanks. I've been with enom, opensrs, and moniker for over a decade and pay less than godaddy. I don't like the spam and price of godaddy and I certainly don't like the price at netsol. To me godaddy is only to be used by people suckered in during superbowl ads and casual newbies (not meant as an insult btw would have just cost several thousand more in renewals and 'dodgy' customer service).

Yeah Network Solutions is horrible. They are so bad I literally wrote, printed and signed a complaint letter and MAILED it to them. Of course there was no response... but that is how much I loath them.

GoDaddy isn't a scam... just no very bulk user friendly. I have 60% of my portfolio with Uniregistry, 30% with Moniker and slowly transferring to Uniregistry and 10% wherever they are locked up by recent transactions.

GoDaddy lost me forever ago with all the little hoops I had to jump through. No big deal for their normal customer to click here or there... but doing that 500+ times always pissed me off.

Same thing with the GoDaddy auctions. Every bid, "agree to terms" and other wasted clicks.

It is typically the 43rd day after the domain name expired before it shows up in your account. I say typically because we sell domains from several other companies besides GoDaddy and there are some slight differences depending on where the domain name expired.
We are looking at speeding this up and delivering the domains in a shorter time frame.
We are not contacting the previous owner asking them to renew their domain we already did that at least 9 times before you bid on the domain and probably called them as well. It is only after we figure the customers no longer want the domain name that we sell it.
You don't have to pay 15 dollars for a renewal. There are several ways to not do this.
1. Domain Discount club gives you the best pricing including renewals and auction wins etc.
2. coupon code. Harder to find for renewals but still floating around out on the web. Better bet is the discount club.
3. Use a backorder. Backorders can be purchased at a big discount in bulk and cover the renewal fee on an expired auction as well as a $10 bid credit.

We have made some big improvements in our bulk interface and are continuing to do so.

I would love to be able to one time globally agree to the terms, instead of doing it every bid. If I have to sign a piece of paper and fax you to make this happen I would happily do it. Anything to save that click.

Also, having the option to jump a bid to a higher price would be amazing. The proxy bids extend the auctions out too long on the expensive domains. GoDaddy has lost like $6k+ in the last week because I don't have time for that.

Another option would be to give me API access so my team can develop a bid tool. It does not appear that your default APIs work with auctions.

Yes I meant to say I found it in my spam folder. Strange though because other emails from godaddy about my account seem to go through. Must be one of the spam rules I set that got triggered.

Until today it still hasn't moved. Domain is registered with Godaddy directly and still shows old whois. Support said I should wait for some more days but I'm a bit suspicous as something must have gone wrong..

That's why I said usually - not all domains we sell are expired from GoDaddy, some expire at other companies and need to be transferred to a holding account and then moved to the buyer. If this is one of those domains that is not unusual that it is taking more than 43 days past expiration. If the support team said wait then you should get the domain. If you were not going to get it they would just tell you that.
