GoDaddy closeout cancelled

What does it mean to cancel the closeout purchase from Godaddy and have your money returned?

I purchased the domain VeganGate.com from Godaddy closeout, and they sent the cancellation email and returned my money??
Can the owner of the domain return the domain at closeout! Or is it it from Godaddy?

Since the domain is at a partner registrar, it may have been a timing problem.

According to their rules (https://www.godaddy.com/help/timeline-for-godaddy-auctions-expired-domains-42743), "The current registrant can still manually renew the domain until it's purchased by someone else."

But I've seen this before where the owner renews but Godaddy's system doesn't recognize it right away and causes this problem.

This is just my guess though.

Generally, it means the original registrant renewed or transferred the domain. Each partner registrar that uses GoDaddy Auctions follows specific policies regarding expired inventory.

I think you will not be successful with Godaddy as they are too big but this is just not fair to make auction before domain is "deleted"... I also thought when offer is made at closeout, domain is changing owner but looks like not the case....
