Is the time on the bottom footer of the forum server side (the time of the web host) or client side (pulled from the users computer)?

When bidding on timed auctions, what's the best time to go by?

Is the time on the bottom footer of the forum server side (the time of the web host) or client side (pulled from the users computer)?
There are two different times shown through the forum.
The first two are the same, but the third may not be the same.
  • (a) "Time:" at the very bottom of the site, to the left of "Advertise":
    • If you're logged in, it uses the time zone that you set in your account preferences.
    • If you're not logged in, then it defaults to New York.
    • Tip: You can hover over the time to see the time zone.
  • (b) The post times throughout the site also use the time zone that is set under account preferences.
  • (c) In the marketplace, at the very bottom of the user's info box, you'll notice "User's Time:" where we show the time of that particular member.

When bidding on timed auctions, what's the best time to go by?
That depends on when the seller says the auction ends.
  • If the time is relative ("24 hours after last bid"), then you can look at the time that the last bid was posted, which will be in your local time, and use that with your own clock to determine the end time.
  • If it says that it ends at 2 PM PDT (the user's time) and you're on EDT, then it'll be easier for you to use the "User's Time" that I explained above under (c).
I hope that helps.
