Question about developing a domain

I have been reading about people who register a domain, and go on to build a website.

After they grab a template, they set up promotion/ads and then add content. My question is: how are people getting this content in their spare time?

I find it interesting that if you search something in the news, dozens of websites will all copy eachother's articles VERBATIM. First it will be on news websites, then web sources, and blogs everywhere.

Are people really just copying these articles verbatim and claiming these articles "content?" Because I thought even if you were going to change some of the language on an original article you could get in trouble.

If domainers have dozens of templated websites these people all couldn't be doing their own research and writing... right?

Any help is appreciated.

Geesh....
Any good content is good content and is good for good position on SERPs and page rank and so forth.

But really, there are hundreds of ways to get content, even from other sites.

And just because site A takes content from site B, and then site C comes along and takes the same content from site B, does not mean that both site A and C have the same content in the same context (I use content from site B in a middle of a post, another site uses same content but as only content for a post).

So google and search engines see the same content from A, B, and C.
But see it in different context for each site.

A lot of webmasers dont create original content but this is nnot good for your positions in the SERP and for the site at all.

aren't you infringing on copyright as well and could cost you money?
