Putting domain names onto data

Interestingly, a well-connected Silicon Valley start-up, FluidInfo, is allowing domain owners to put domain names onto individual pieces of data --

reading the blog, still don't quite understand it. I can sign up at fluidinfo with my domain raids.com, but why would anyone else want to use fluidinfo with my domain raids.com tag?

Can anyone explain this.
looks like you are aggregating links onto your own domain, possibly like .tel? that others can add to.
