Anyone ever felt that they've pushed someone too much on Sedo?

I've had various offers on Sedo, and kept raising his bid and it kept going up, but then raised slightly too high and they backed away. Now I wish I took it.. but then again, I can't take it now it's too late :hehe:

Anyone else been in a similar situation?

Negotiating is a tough business. Tough aspect is to get a decent amount for the domain but not get too greedy.

Is it possible to counter offer higher say they offered 500 you counter 1200 you dont hear a response so you make an offer 500 to sell.
Is this possible?

It's hard to sell someone over the internet. You have no grasp if your pushing someone too much or too little. Give me a telephone let me talk to them in person and it's a done deal.

HE HE HE. Happened to me for a domain of mine.

Got the offer of $150 then I refused and got the offer of $200 for it.

But I decided not to sale.

Now I am still with that same domain. But the domain is good so I am not worried.

I have rejected some first offers thinking they must be low ball... Mistake sometimes someone will offer "its worth" on a first call. :(

I have also sold names for less than I had found out the buyer would have been willing to pay.....

If you are happy with your price its good all round if not, dont sell.

Its not easy when you dont know the buyers pocket. IMO you should just have a $ sum in mind and be happy if you get it.

This is a wise comment.
Unfortunately there is regular advice from domainers to 'go greedy'.
ie if the offer is accepted then the price sold is too low'!
Remember the motto: 'A fool and his domain are never parted'

I love buying on Sedo. I always give the lowest possible offer at first if possible, 60 EURO or 60 USD. Then I notice the sellers sometimes counter offer high or mid $xxx. This has happened to me a few times, my next step is $100 or 100 EURO. They usually go down by a few as well. Then I give $125 or $150 as my final price, and they take it, they are afraid that they won't get a sale at all. That's when I have bargained anywhere from $500 to $900 dollars.

What is the domain? Maybe I'd be interested.

Umm... well if you try to be too greedy, you might loose even what you could have got. I guess you have learnt lesson from here ;) Just do it slowly and you will get what you want!

the key word here is "greedy". Just remember what you originally paid for the domain the next time you get an offer.......chances even are the buyer may let it drop in a year or two and you may even get it back. This has happened to me several times and I have obtained the domain twice after it dropped and sold it again for a second time....lol....don't be greedy

That was some good luck for you. Maybe the guy will come back and buy it again for $450 from you... Just like that fish you catch and release and then it bites again.

One thing I don't like about Sedo: when a potential buyer offers a ridiculous amount for a good domain, I simply do not feel the need to initiate negotiations. But there is no option to "End Negotiation" right away without a counter-offer. So I usually just let the offer expire, and Sedo emails me twice, and finally advises me to "please at least respond", etc... it is quite a waste of time when often you know that the potential buyer just wants to test the water with clearly no intention to purchase. Worse, you cannot even reply to the offer with a "comment", without a numerical counter-offer.

Anybody else faces a similar predicament?

Yeah - I hate the fact you have to put in a counter price before you can cancel it - It does'nt make sense to me :-/

But I did'nt realise you could actually just "ignore it".

I know you can set a minimum on the offers so lower offers don't get acknowledged - its something I may consider doing.

Yes, a few months ago I sold a two-worded .org for high $XXX. Sedo payment was quick, and no additional fees if withdrawn via a cheque. There will be (Paypal) fees if you elect to receive the payout via that method.
