Take it on the chin, and move forward.

Learn from the mistake and next time use an escrow or a 3rd party site to complete the deal. ( sedo, godaddy etc )

Happens to the best of us, shame their are still idiots born every minute.

    Lucky it's only $300 and not $3000.

All the best, hopefully he pay you soon.

Recently had someone PayPal me a couple hundred for some legal advice, and I was (fortunately) traveling and a little late in commencing the email exchange when I got the PayPal notice that he was trying to claim that it was an unauthorized payment. I sent PP the screen shots, and in the meantime the idiot was actually responding to my emails where I was shaming him for trying to rip someone off who was just trying to help him, and right while he was saying that he had given me all fake info about who he was and so on, allasudden came the decision from PP "The following case was found in your favor." :xf.laugh: and so I ended up with his money, and of course, refused to help him further.

"Na na nana na na, na na nana na. na na nana na nana nana na na. Na na nana na na, na na nana na. Na na nana na nana nana na na. Na na nana na na, na na nana na. Na na nana na nana nana na na!"

Now it's your turn to cry. :-P

Call him out on his fb. I don't think he is busy, if he has the time to forward your domain to a nameserver, read your mail and not reply, then he should have enough time to forward your money. He is just being sh*t and treat him as one

Don't understand why everyone says it is foolish to do this on the OP's behalf.

He's done it for 10 years and if he sold 50 names and 1 turns out bad, it is equivalent of 2% commission. So he should continue, if it increases the chance of closing the sale and even if it is the same, as that commission is 1/5 of undeveloped's and 1/10 of godaddy's.

OP: PM me the info and I will try to call him.

    You guys are nuts......

OP was threatening the buyer and being unnecessarily hostile before even 12 hours had passed.

Still, he's got a dozen NPers with torches blazing at the ready.

What a place this has become.

And where did you read the OP threatened the buyer? Maybe I missed that part.

Pay Pal, nevermind. It's a real shame people don't know how to pay for something they already were interested in and have wasted your time talking with them about.

Less than 12 hours and you'd already threatened to dispute (I assume with the registrar).

Did you consider that maybe -- just maybe -- he wants to be sure he's 100% got the domain before he sends the payment? I'd feel uncertain about the whole thing myself if the seller was acting so suspiciously / urgently.

OR, perhaps someone besides him handles the payments? Many companies forward invoices to someone who is responsible specifically for making payments. It's often not the same person facilitating the domain transfer.

OR, perhaps he has a legitimate issue with making the payment.

OR, perhaps he's got a very full schedule. 12 hours is NOT much time to squeeze in an unscheduled task for some busy people. Yes, to us it's a 1 minute process. To them, it might not be. Maybe they've got meetings all day. Maybe they got sick. Maybe they've got a family to take care of! There are sooo many reasons why you need to be patient with some buyers.

So relax and lay off the guy a little.... appreciate his BUSINESS, and that he's probably way busier than you are right now. I'm 95% sure you'll get paid, and 100% certain that you're not speeding up the process at this point. He has the invoice. He has your contact details. Just wait it out.

It has been 48 hours now though, The buyer at a minimum could answer an email, some communication of some sort at least, IMO , No communication at all leads people to think the buyer is going stiff the seller, Communication of some sort is the operative phrase.

I hope you'll at least give the guy til end of business today...?... rather than waiting around counting down the hours til blowing up his phone AND email by 9:05 am local (or worse, 7 am, because clearly you should be his first priority of the day). This is what I'm picturing, based on everything you've said so far. What you're explaining is borderline harassment.

That said, I support 1, 3....... and 2, but only if he hasn't paid up after a couple weeks.

I think a gentle reminder every ~2 days is acceptable. Personally, I'd give him a full day of silence, then, if he still hasn't paid, follow up with a short email Friday morning. Something simple, like:

    Hi Buyer,

Just following up to see if you had any questions or issues making the payment. If so, I'd be happy to help.

    Thank you,

    Your name

There's really very little you can do to speed things up at this point, so just hope for the best and check in every couple days. Show him you're not going to forget about it, but maybe be a little less aggressive in pushing him for payment.

    Exactly what I would do.

That email is nearly word for word what I sent a buyer a couple of days ago. He was having problems with paying through GD after reaching an agreement (don't ask, buyer wanted it to go through there), but I waited two days before sending this type of email. He excused himself and said that he would love to own the domain but the GD page keeps redirecting him.
I told him to try again a couple more times, because the GD auctions site can get buggy or we can try an alternative place for the transaction. He did try again and the payment went through.
(I'll admit it's not exactly the same situation as above but I would have done the same if I pushed the domain first)

I understand that if you push the domain first and he refuses to pay or respond initially, you may feel robbed. But never make hostile replies about what's going to happen if he does not pay (at least not after 12 or 24 hours). Unprofessional and it does not speed things up.

I would never push a domain before payment even here. There is a very few plausible scenarios where you buy something and then pay after. That is not how it works. Pay and receive the goods.

I bought a domain on someone’s website and become alarmed when he didn’t push it right away. Trust no one. If you have the stomach to wait and hope for the best more power to you. I prefer to remain in control of the deal.

I occasionally do pushing too before payment. But before that, I have to cross-check and verify the company/owner. This you failed to do. Some people are ready to scam you for as low as $5.

Wait, you really wait few weeks after you already pushed the domain and exchanged emails where he would pay after the push? While he is clearly online using the domain you sold to him?
Is anyone else doing something similar? because if i don't receive any response after 1-2 business days where the buyer told me he would pay me after the push i call scam all the way
