Proxify vs ProxyFly.net

Recently I was bidding on a proxy site by the name of [ ProxyFly.net ] at SitePoint.com when I recieved a PM from the owner of [Proxify.com ] stating that if I were to gain ownership of ProxyFly.net that they would take legal action against me. They informed me that the name Proxify was trademarked and the domain ProxyFly.net threatened their trademark.

I was just curious what you think I should do in this situation, do they really have the right to the domain ProxyFly.net when they have only trademarked the phrase Proxify?

this was discussed with someone else last month,proxify has no rights to proxfly.. they registered similar domains just recently and tried ot "back date" TM status.....

Can you please explain to me what exactly is meant by Back Dating the TM status?

Always be careful of people trying to power play or bully their TM. You don't even have the name yet and they are giving you grief. That's bull. IMHO this shows weakness in their TM and they are desperate to try and claim it.

btw..they don't own Proxifly.net or Proxifly.com either. Have they ever successfully UDRP'd anyone?

They have overeached before to a point where they outright lied to an owner. I sent the OP a link to the other forum where it was discussed n detail. The owner of proxify is kind of a moron...

Also: Both terms sound similar but they are in exact completely different. There are no TM issues here IMO.
