What is the difference between a trademark and a registered (r)? I know that trademarked domains cannot be bought (or if you do, you might get it taken away) but is that the same for registered? Microsoft is not trademarked but registered, yet the kid who created mikerowsoft.com was sued.

Also, if I registered a .info domain for some famous singer, would that be okay? I see tons of fansites but a name like that cannot be trademarked can it?

if you do a search of "tm" or "trademark" or "fan sites" on this site, you will get a ton of threads dedicated to the subject and all of your questions you asked have been extensively covered. This is the best way to learn. Spend a whole day reading and then if you have any unique questions, then post them here.

as a freebee... a registered mark IS a TM that is registered with the governemeent (hence the name). It is better to have a registered mark than claiming a TM.

There is way too much to cover is jsut one post, please research.
