What are the pros and cons of showing off my portfolio to strangers, such as on these threads or to an inquiring emailer?

Thanks.

anyone have an opinion on this?

seems as though people hold their domains quite close to their chest... I am too much of a noob to understand how this helps get domains sold.

Or is it a pride thing?

Personal discretion I would think. I don't see any reason not to show your portfolio off but I guess there is a remote chance a rival could try to copy your strategy.

Yeah I agree there- the fear of other people copying your ideas is really the only rational thing I can think of why people are hesitant to show off all they have in order to get "the word out".

Maybe also it is easier to get lowballed when people can get an idea of what other domains I have, quality or trash wise, and how and when and where I have regd.... ( all this is easier to find out with more domains names to search).

hmmm

I think the thing is not about copying ideas. Now a days almost everyone has their own ideas. And there are many other options from where a person can get inspiration.
If you will hesitate to show your portfolio to others then chances of selling your domain names will be less.
