This is fascinating...

Look at the attached image. If you view the image from your seat in front of the computer, Mr. Angry is on the left, and Mrs. Calm is on the right.

Get up from your seat, and move back about eight feet. They switch places!

This proves that we may not be seeing what's actually there, all the time, and why "eye-witness" accounts are often incorrect.

You can also see the change by adjusting the focus of your eye without moving. Cover one eye and focus at the end of your nose. You'll see the images swap in the background although they'll be out of focus since your lens is now the wrong shape for the distance to the image.
