I'd appreciate a valuation on these. I'm new at this and I've received two offers (one for each domain) since listing them a few hours ago. Valuate estimates PromoteDating.com to be worth $680. This domain in particular, however, uses a much-used phrase in the dating affiliate sector - lesser domains going for much more - and it's registered until 2018.

Thoughts?

Mid to high XXXs would be a good figure I personally would only go mid to high xx in promotedaiting and loww xx in 1980shorror

Would anyone else be kind enough to offer an appraisal?

1980sHorror.com

80's was a huge decade for horror but this name feels 'fan' enduser and classic lowballer only offers $xx

I agree. I think that promotedating.com is probably x-low xx and 1980shorror is mid $xx at best.

You're right: the '80s were, indeed, a seminal period for the horror genre. I don't understand the remainder of your remarks. If I'm to take a stab: you mean the sale of this domain would appeal to fans of the genre and they typically make low offers. If so, understood. With my limited knowledge of domains, but less than limited knowledge of the horror genre, I would be tempted to disagree (assuming my stab found the mark!). The popularity of '80s horror has always been on the rise and no more so than lately (with all of the '80s remakes and people in power who grew up watching the originals). I'm not expecting a vast sum, but I would think a little more than $XX.

Thank you for your input!

See my above comment regarding 1980sHorror.com

As regards PromoteDating.com: having been connected to this niche for 20 years, I can tell you this is the most popular phrase uttered by affiliates in the sector. It's a classic phrase, simple to spell and remember, and perfectly describes the business of affiliate marketing. The buyer would likely be a dating affiliate program, wishing to rebrand a new line of dating sites. These entities pay vast sums and have money to burn.

Now, saying that, I'm not expecting to get any richer off it. But, given the above and the 2018 expiry date, I think your appraisal is a tad off.

The tough part is that the domain is going to appeal to a very limited audience. You might get more than $xx for it but it will be difficult.

I totally agree.

It really is one of those well-defined sub-niche domains. On the upside, when we consider online marketing, you're targeting a specific crowd so monetization should be easy and CTR high.

Roy has a great point. It won't take a lot of fancy SEO to get to the top of the search results due to this subject having such limited competition. Plus advertisers will pay more. Perhaps you should develop it into a blog/affiliate site? Even if you don't want to maintain it, you've created a nice site which will make it much easier to sell (and for a better price!)

Thanks, techgal128. I totally agree here, too.

You know, I may even do as you suggest. I'll see what kind of offers I get first (if any) and then make a decision. If nothing else, I can turn it into a hobby site that eventually pays out a little.

Thank you!

??? :-/

PromoteDating.com. - 7400 results with quotes, no advertisers.., unless someone is going to build a site to tell others how to promote their dating sites... don't see any value to it, other than to the registrar where it got regged for multiple years. But..GL with it.

I was referring to the 1980shorror.com domain. The promotedating.com one is not terribly useful imho.

Like you say, it would be useful to someone wishing to tell others how to promote dating. This is actually a very lucrative niche: pays 5% and upwards for every referred affiliate. Most sales reps in the industry earn 100% of their wage in this manner and do terribly well for themselves.

The other obvious buyer would be a dating affiliate program. I don't want to rehash my previous remarks (short on time), but owning PromoteDating.com in the dating affiliate niche is like owning BuyDomains.com in the registrar niche: it perfectly explains the term with which everyone in that sector is most familiar.

These don't look very promising to me. Don't keep them too long as even the low renewal fees are a waste of money. GL with them.

Be careful! It is not beacause Valuate and Estibot appraise your domain to 11K that there's is value.
I've found some keywords that "worth" 25K in estibot but did not purchase it because it was a crappy domain.

Almost every random names you can find are appraised from 100$ to 1,100$.

Use NameBio.com and look for similar domain sales.
Use Google Trends to see what people are looking at and the search Volume of the keywords.
Look for related results on google.

Promote Dating is an imperative, so unless the visitor gets to the site to promote dating (I find hard to believe it) the name is not appealing at all. Do not expect more than reg.
