Whilst I applaud Sedo's half hearted attempt to focus on probably a large part of the future of domaining they really must get their act together and actually know what they are talking about.

"The recent success of .ASIA and the continued growth of international domain markets and internet users have led to an increased awareness of the need for non-English extensions. The creation of new ccTLDs such as “.The recent success of .ASIA and the continued growth of international domain markets and internet users have led to an increased awareness of the need for non-English extensions. The creation of new ccTLDs such as “.瓷” instead of .CN, or “.Ελλάδα” in place of .GR, will undoubtedly open the internet and the domain industry to an even broader mix of people, although the actual extensions remain to be seen.instead of .CN, or “.Ελλάδα” in place of .GR, will undoubtedly open the internet and the domain industry to an even broader mix of people, although the actual extensions remain to be seen."

They are advocating the use of “.瓷” for China :cy:

eg; China.porcelain - that is what “瓷” means- porcelain - not China :D

To date you cannot sell Chinese, Japanese, Thai etc domain names via Sedo, they do not have the capability - they are putting the cart before the horse by making such statements.

Come on Sedo get your act together, the biggest revolution in domaining is gathering steam and still you procastinate and if you do have to make statements at least make sure the content is correct- you are supposedly the market leaders :?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

With friends like that who needs enemies? Don't they know that that the Chinese have already determined which alias will be used? I know it needs ratification by ICANN, but realistically, is there a cat in hells chance they will be refused?

This is not just about not knowing how to use an online dictionary. It all about not have a clue about what is going on in the real world.

Anyway nice research Wot!

Sometimes you just feel that it must be part of some elaborate piss take. The only baffling thing is, why?

I have .jp domains listed at Sedo.
Why would they not be able to sell them?

Have you checked?: "Sale not possible"

"At present it is not possible to list this domain for sale on Sedo. The domain contains characters which, although recognised by our domain parking program, are not yet supported within our bidding system. "

You can list but you cannot sell :td:

Thats sad. There should have been a warning while entering the domains. Whats the use of listing them?
Do they at least sell english characters with Asian TLDs such as .JP?

Not really, this has been going on for years.

We learned to live without Escrow and probably save ourselves nearly $20K!

Maybe he had a long night of drinking and was praying to "the porcelain god" all morning before writing this.

So when can we start registering .porcelain?

I might grab a few. :sold:

Any idea what the pre-reg cost for dot porcelain?

Hi All,

This was totally my bad (just found this thread randomly). First, I would like to clarify that this article was not following a night of heavy drinking, although I appreciate the sentiment. ;) Ironically, I have spent time in Taiwan studying a small bit of Chinese, and this translation was courtesy of dictionary.com. The character didn't look right to me then, and now I see it certainly wasn't. :|

So, I would like to take a moment to humbly apologize for this blunder, and clarify that the possibility for the extension could, as a very general example, be ".中國," or something similar.

Take care all!

Always,
Keith

Well, we guessed that you must have been on some sensory imparing substances but did not leap to the conclusion it was alchohol.

Perhaps, now that Sedo is in a more business like mood, you can inform us when you expect your operations to be fully IDNA compliant?
