Process of researching and purchasing dropped domains

I apologize in advance for this newbie question.

If I go to Drop Catch, I can't find out anything about a domain name other than the name itself and number of bids. It is my understanding that this is the place to go to find great dropped domain names.

If I go to Expired Names Net, I can do research and find out many details of a dropped or deleted domain name - age, ranking, backlinks etc. But I can't seem to find the Drop Catch names I am interested in on that site.

So my question is - if I am looking for established domain names with back links and rankings, how do I go about this with a reasonable chance of buying the name at a very low price? what is the process?

I sort of figured this out. Expired Names has a section just for Drop Catch.
