Problem with avatar setting...

I think this is the right place to post this...

I've been trying to add a custom avatar to my profile but it doesn't seem to work. The picture is exactly 70x70 px and less than 10kb in size (actually, it's 6kb). But it keeps giving me an error that its size exceeds 10kb. Even if I try to host it on my own webspace I keep getting the SAME error.

Anyone know why this is so ?
