Something's wrong with avatar?

before i just upload an image and it's automatically cropped in size now i just uploaded a new one and it said

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 0 by 0 pixels or 0 Bytes (whichever is smaller).

i can't find any pixel max. size of avatar on faq and avatar under options doesn't show max width and height, can someone tell me so i can modify the avatar manually.
