Honestly, I don't think .travel is ever going to really catch on with the general user. It's an extremely long sTLD to type, and virtually no one recognizes that it even exists. This is probably more one of those development-type domains, though once it's developed you may have trouble getting user recognition. As a bare domain, it's not really all that great.
I don't know if that was sarcasm or not...
My apprasal of the name would be negative whatever it cost you to register it.
There's a reason virtually everything is still available in this tld. If I were going to buy a .travel, it certainly wouldn't be "prices.travel" unless you intend on really throwing your back (and bank account) into developing some sort of brand.
