"Priced for fast sale!" = Overpriced junk

Over the past 2 years of buying at domain forums, without exception, domain sales that were titled "priced to sell fast," "fast sale wanted" or some variation that suggests the seller really wants the cash now and is offering a ridiculously cheap price - every single one is either wildly overpriced, garbage domains or both.

Yet, I still click - hoping that maybe... just this once... the seller will actually have a decent name that is really priced to sell fast.

I get suckered again and again on these posts, and I still don't get the point of overpricing something you want to sell fast. Or of posting misleading headlines - do they think once we see the stuff they have, we'll change our minds?

Has anyone ever gotten a great deal on a domain that was listed as "priced to sell fast!?"

Rant over>:(

No worries on the rant ... it's generally pretty commonplace on the domain forums, historically speaking; I'm often tempted to PM the OP's of such threads/offers to suggest they ask for realistic "Wholesale / Quick Sale" appraisals prior to listing. :guilty:
That being said, one person's junk is another person's treasure ... so best wishes to the seller(s) and Caveat Emptor to all potential buyer(s)! :talk: :imho:

For the record, I have quickly grabbed a few or more domains (two were very solid .ORG's!) that proved to be very "good deals" ... from successful & professional transactions here in the #1 Namepros Marketplace™, IMHO. :gl:
See you soon,

Jeff, I'm not saying there aren't deals here. I have picked up some real dream deals on Namepros.

That said, I've never seen any good deals under in threads titled "must sell fast" or some variation that suggested speed was important to the seller. Something about that particular approach...

Aside from those tactics being taught in marketing the tactics (antics) are effective. Grrrr. I'm just as guilty of the hopeful click. Even if the mouse over wont yield some clue in the content I'll still venture in. 99% of the time I'm disappointed.

One of the other domain forums has the answer, to some degree, but with consequences. By forcing the names to be listed in the title you can elevate a portion of this. I'm all for it. List the names in the title and we use less bandwidth and waste less time but the view count suffers and lets face it .... the view counts are one of the statistics (monetary compensation justification) that yields income and rankings. :imho:

Par for course ...

Understood.
If, under the "Specialty Domains For Sale" area, there was a new and separate category entitled "Priced For Quick Sale" marketplace forum; where there would be a requirement that the domain name (1) be in the actual thread title itself ... and the only other information in the thread be its "Quick Sale" fixed price (and corresponding Registrar & Expiration date and the specific Date the offer is no longer valid (for instance, since time is of the essence, "Offer good for 48/72 hours from post!") - I wonder if this would neatly & efficiently address the issue? :gl:

Jeff, I was just ranting.. not every problem needs a fix, thanks though:tu:

I'm sure many of the posters think their price is a real bargain, it's not that easy to see through the clouds sometimes.

Namenut, I am sure others think that views translate into sales, but they are missing the point. Targeted views translate into sales, untargetted or mislead viewers get pissed off.

For myself, when I see a large view count and no replies on a post, I think the deal being offered is no good. (Oddly, sometimes I have found great deals in just those posts, though.)
