Foreword: By this post / question I do not intent to doubt/harm anyone physically / emotionally. This is a sincere questions that arouse when I did a simple who.is check. Thank you for your understanding :)

Hello,

I noticed a recent auction: namepros.com/threads/brandables-auction-cutext-com-plathora-com-kasually-com.886690/

Three domains have been listed in the auction. Out of the newbie curiosity I did a who.is check on the three domains and all three hold a premium board with each one priced at $18xx except plathora priced at $3xx

You might have already assumed my question. How is the auction price starting at such a low rate for a premium domain. What if the auction final bid does not result in a a price that is worth for the premium domain?

Just because it is appraised at a high value, does not make it premium nor worth the appraised value.
Those 3 domains are not close to being premium, IMHO.

Iowa's right only worth what someone is willing to pay. give the appraiser your escrow link see if they agree.

Thank you for enlightening me on that @iowadawg @baseballworld

How does a domain get a premium badge/status ? Some domains are marked premium by icann i suppose but few others like kasual which is a variation of casual, how do these get a premium status?

Some domain investors are prone to exaggerating the value of their domain name, either as a negotiation strategy so that they can go down to the real price they want, or they plain hope some newbie will fall for the word "premium".

Premium domain names are one word .com-s, real words not made up ones. Or maybe short domains. Everything else is not.

Sometimes a no-reserve auction is a way of liquidating domains to either save on renewals or reinvest in other domains. What you're talking about does happen sometimes and it's a risk the seller takes if a name they think may be worth $xxx or even $xxxx sells for $xx. I've been burned as a seller and also lucky a few times as the buyer. You just have to calculate the risks and make an educated decision. Hope this helps.

@iowadawg @Domain Lead Finder @frostify thank you. I understand that a domain name can be appraised to know(guess) a selling price for it. What I would like to to clarify now is that how do domains that are typos get a premium badge when being listed on who.is or godaddy etc. Who declares the typo domain names as premium?
