I'm interested on a expired domain name.

Namejet backorder page currently shows the type as "Pre-release"

Is it wise to buy the domain now by placing a bid (minimum $69) ? Or should I wait some some days?

Where do the domain go if no one bid on that domain?

Currently there are no bids. So if I place a bid am I attracting more bidders?

How many days before the auction closes? Best time to place a bid is about an hour before the auction closes on NameJet.

Not all pre-release are expiring names, check the whois info to confirm (it might say reactivation period or you might be able to tell from the dates etc)

If no one buys the name it will end up in the pending delete within 6 weeks.

And yes, the earlier you place your bid the more people you will attract, many use software to place their last second bid while other simply wait until a bit before 11PM EST to place their bid

good luck, ill be watching :)

Thanks stub,

If no one place bid, what happens to that domain? How long will it take to get deleted?

Approx 35-40 days. But if I were you I'd bid on it whilst it is still in Pre-Release. There are a lot of sharks patrolling the Deleting Domains which don't participate in the Pre-Release. So it is possible you could pay more if you wait for it to drop, rather than buying it for $69 in Pre-Release.

ok got it stub. I'll place my bid as per your suggestion.

One more question.

If I place my bid at last and won the auction, will I acquire the domain instantly? Or do I have to wait some more days?

It usually takes 1-2 days to process the domain payment/transfer. Let us know how you get on.

A pre-release auction is 69 dollars (rarely more), there is no placing a bid more than 69. If there are more than 1 bidder than it goes into a private auction where the bidders can fight it out for 3 days.

If you are the only bidder when its a pre-release you will get the name transfered to you within 7 days (usually within 48 hours)

You can bid more than $69 on a pre-release auction. But it is an actual bid, not a proxy bid. So I have never found any reason to bid more than the minimum until the domain goes to auction because of more than one bidder.

Hello stub and AEProgram

I just received a mail from namejet that I've won the domain auction. So I really thank you guys for the assistance.

2 more questions..

1) How long do I have to wait to get the domain?
2) Do I have to pay any additional fees like domain renewal fee?
