I launched http://bookclub.co.in not even 24 hours back. And I see the pagerank as PR5 ! I am not even able to find if the name has any history.

Any idea ?

Thanks,
Pratik

Hey, I just checked your domain. Its PR definitely belongs to the URL
http://hightouchhightech.com (IP: 217.160.252.39). So unfortunately
you don't have got a real PR5 domain. I think the domain will lose its
PageRank after the next PR update. Sorry for that... would have been
too nice to be true though!

I don't care for PR for this perticular site. So I won't be sorry if it's PR0 :)

No ! The thing is that the domain never redirected to any other site. I am the first person to register it after .co.in registration was open in Feb.

Then it's definitely really strange that google shows the cache of the other site???

Yeah ! It is indeed strange...

Not trying to hijack the thread, but here is another seemingly impossible page rank,

www.illinois.us

PR7 without inbound links, launched just in Feb.

I thought you would find it interesting based on the theory of inbound links being the primary driver of page rank. Also, being only a single page and a reply form, it's not a lot of content driving the rank which is another theory of how to gain PR.

Google hits it a lot. It went from PR0 to PR7 when PR updated a few weeks ago.

Yeah I noticed my site too was a PR 0 now its 3 but I find that strange how it can be PR 5 in one day without any history.

Yeah but do you get visitors / high traffic ?

I would doubt that within 1 day he would get enough visitors to get a PR 5.

Not high, 50-60 a day right now.

I think your "it's a glitch" comment was not about my site but rathar pratiknaik's, but for those who may think mine is a glitch, the PR is likely due to the name itself and the naming conventions originally implemented in the now 20+ year old .us namespace.

Fundraiser - yes you are right about my glitch comment.

You should get some high traffic / visitors as soon as you get out of google's sandbox..

I sent you a PM.

Very wierd indeed.

There are some methods that show a fake PR. Something with htacces and 301 redirect if i remember corectly.

I also believe so. But those pages can be checked by changing your user agent in firefox to one matching googlebot and checking the page.

But, getting a genuine PR5, or 6 or even 7 in a few weeks is absolutely possible. A link from a PR8 page a couple of weeks before the toolbar PR update can give you a PR7.
