hey all,

So... LL.eu (Two LETTER .EU domains)

They are all being whipped up very quickly when being applied for... I wunder how much value they will hold in a few years time.

Do you think that these domain names will have any instant value? I'm guessing that they will considering todays fierce market for reseller domains!

Yeah they will have instant value without a doubt. I estimate the value of eu domains will be less than dot com, but more than .net, .de, .co.uk. Certainly after some time.

If you manage to grab one, I would suggest to keep it for a few years.

Much will of course will depend on the total number of eu domains registered. But expect it to be high.

Some are saying .eu will surpass .com because it's shorter. I don't think that will be the case.

That is one persons opinion only of course.

I like the .EU extension, and yes I also dont think that it will beat the .COM, but I certainly feel that It will make is bigger than org, info, biz and us IMHO :tu:

The chances of getting one of those babies (LL.EU domains) is quite slim though... Nice to dream :)

my lovely software, castalia (you can see an old demo without the most important features at http://www.castalia.info) will bring me great bargains on .eu :D... I just can't wait for them to come out.

I think anyone who does get a decent .eu will be targetted by individuals or businesses who will send them a frightened legal letter saying they have a legal right to the domain and would the current registrant hand it over otherwise they will taken to court. If some are spending a fortune on registering trademarks to obtain domains sending threaten legal letters will be a cheaper way to get good domains. It could get very nasty.

Think all ll.eu are held back.

Something to do with the country codes.

i'll try and find the source.

SOME LL.EU domains are held back as country codes (EG. CA.EU, ES.EU), but many aren't and are available for applications!

That is the whole point in the sunrise periods, so technically they should have some sort (legit or not) of a RIGHT to the domain... otherwise their application will be declined.

I hope you're right. There was also a sunrise for .biz. Someone, an individual, registered newzealand.biz. The New Zealand government realised afterwards they want this domain and spent us$10,000 recovering it. If .eu takes off and becomes as famililar as .com some firms will sudden realise they should have their own .eu name. The registrant of baa.com spent about $55,000 defending himself against British Airport Authority. If they find an individual has registered it they may try to recover it. In the early days of .com there were numerous scam artists who used to write to people claiming their domain in a convincing way.

Yeah... everything is corrupt. With any luck I won't have these kinds of problems.

I want to get one and keep it for 10 years and just show off
:hehe:
