Potential buyer lying, what should I say to him?

When a potential buyer doesn't use a fake name and email and lies about how he's just a "broke college student that's working on a business startup" and the highest he can pay is low $xxx, but you can search his name and email and you find out that he's nowhere near broke. The proof is right there, The youtube channel, google+ account, twitter, instagram, linkedin and everything and it's clear that this guy is lying.

What will you do? Will you can him out and tell him he's lying? Or you will just stick to your asking price thinking that maybe he'll accept your price because he can afford it and if you'll call him out and insult him than he won't buy the domain from you?

you said you broke! but after I stalking your profile it seem you have a lot of money! sory brother, I think I will increase the price 2 times! and renew for 3 years! ! and if you want cheap domain, actually you can! just wait for more than 2 years, I am sure, if no one give me offer in 2 year! I will drop the domain, and you can get cheap domain!

No need to call him out however tempting. Always take the high road. You know what you want for it, just stick to the script- make him wait, counter higher, but calling him out is a bit juvenile. Your goal is still to close the deal. my2cents

Both of you have an interest in the same domain, you as the seller and he as the buyer.

Unless you have an exceptional domain name, real earnest buyers just don't arrive with frequency.

You believe he told " untruths " to lower the price and lets' stipulate he did.

So what.

It will likely happen over and over again with other would be buyers for other names and, it happens daily in thousands of buyer & seller dealings spanning all sectors of goods and services.

Perhaps respond with a very short and polite slightly yet noticeably lower counter-offer and wish him well with his endeavors.

Do leave the negotiation door wide open as you seem amenable to an up to 50% off the $4000.

He's here now, he's real, do your best to de-personalize his buyer's story and find an agreeable price that lets' both of you win.

For the most part, stick to why the domain is worth what you are asking, but without calling him a liar you could mention reasons for why as a successful person you know he appreciates the value of the domain, etc.

What he's willing to pay is his business, and what you're willing to accept is yours.

you may have business account and vip badge, but does that indicate your financial stability or wealth?

This, he may be coming off as a jerk but don't turn into one yourself. Don't say "You can afford more, so you have to pay more"

Just stick to your price, and leave the assumptions about his personal situation out of it (just think, would you appreciate someone making assumptions about you and your financial situation?)

Seriously? If you can’t afford to start your business does that mean I need to support it with charity? Go buy a cheap domain name then, and stop trying to buy my five grand name for five hundred.

However, I am always polite with all inquiries and respond with logical reasons about why the domain is in fact worth what I am asking, including with comparables. I’m not asking for charity either and if I’m asking for a lot for my domains it’s because they are worth my asking price, if not more. This honest logical and polite approach worked recently to bring a buyer up from a $199. initial offer up to a mutually fair purchase price of $2500.

Those poor college students who need a prime domain for a little project and those non profit start ups as well as the business starters with a very small budget stories are a dime a dozen ... get one of those lame emails at least once a week ... never once in over 18 years did ever anything positive come out of those emails . Just ignore and move on !

Also , the part that he is using a different identity just happened to me not too long ago .... we agreed to a ( very low ) price and after he didn't agree to the escrow terms I did some research and found out his real name and email ... after confronting him , his upmost arrogant response was that many people do that to shield their identity .

Who ever said that I FAKE identity is an o.k. Thing to have and to use ??

What is wrong with these people ... I never do business with people that lie !
( at least lie so good that I don't realize that you do )

Moral of this ... don't worry ... ignore Lowballers and people with fake names and email ... wait for the real thing ... it will pay off !
