Post won't be visible until a moderator doesn't approve it

I've just bumped my thread in the 'Make Offer' section, but I've received the message above, which I see for the first time. What is it due to?

It's not you...it's forum wide. Some posts go right through, some get caught.

Sorry for the hassle..."a spammers we are a catchin"

The tech team are working on a system to improve the quality of the forum by intercepting possible spam posts. This will help detect more spam from new members.

Posts that are obviously not spam will be approved quickly

PS: since 'bump' replies arew allowed in the marketplace section, I think manually approving all those posts is going to be a hard work!

I was curious about that myself as I posted a quick funny thread in the Break Room that I knew should be acceptable yesterday...http://www.namepros.com/for-sale-advertising-board/650455-very-funny.html and It didn't Post, so I Posted it again, still didnt see it, so then I pm-ed Mod's and as soon as I pm-ed the question, It then popped up!

I think this is a good problem when a forum gets really popular :tu:

Hopefully the NP team can come out with something that won't need a team of Moderators to approve posts..

Well, it's one of two things...

Either:
1.) Keep the anti-spam actively scanning posts, possibly getting false positives.. even though it will keep a lot of spam out
or
2.) Just go back to the old way, allow a lot more spam, and allow it stay on the forum longer until it's found/reported.

:imho: the anti-spam sending spam posts (even w/potential false positives) to moderation is less work than finding & deleting spam posts/responding to reported spam posts/etc. Moderated posts are kept in a central location, while spam can be all over the forum.

I have a thread that I updated a few days back and still not updated!

Yet in other forums, happens almost at once.
Meaning the mods there are on top of the job.

I hate this system of having to wait for a mod to approve.
Especially if there are no mods around to do so.

Oh, if disapproved, do I get a message?

IMHO, if the post comes from an NP member in good standing with more than 100 posts over a one year period (or whatever set limit you decide), it is highly unlikely to be spam. Automated filtering could easily handle this.

In addition to and/or in the alternative, when a moderator is approving a post from a recognized NP regular, the moderator could click a box that says:

√ "Future posts from this NP member do not require moderation."

This is similar to what we've been doing with our email and address books for years! Just my two-cent solution for improving efficiency and reducing delay and frustration.
